Any Tall Ladies?

Hi guys! I'm looking to find some tall ladies out there to friend and help with motivation. I'm 6' tall and wanting to lose 70lbs currently. I sometimes find it hard to compare my weight loss goals with others. I was hoping to find some women with the same struggle.

I too am tall. If 5.8 is considered tall for a 6 ft er'. I don't know if height has anything to do with the struggles with weight loss. I have been struggling for years. May I ask how old you are. I am 51.

I am 5'10" and need to lose 65 lbs.  It is harder when you're a tall gal.

For me, I have a hard time thinking proportions. I see myself as a giant compared to most women and have a lot of body image issues due to my height alone. I just was hoping to meet some women with the same struggle. I'm 30.

Same here, I feel like a giant, don't even wear heels at work b/c I tower over people and with the excess weight it makes me feel like a Macy's Day float.  I am 50.

You make me laugh. Macy's Day float....... I work with people that do not have food issues at all. I think thin or 'normal' weight women may have other issues. Have you ever noticed how some drink too much or bitch and complain about nonsense. I think to myself. Well at least I am not a drunkin' angry woman, just overweight .  I do have to look at the postitive side.

I also have a sister in law that is 5 feet and she weighs about 98 pounds and she says she can gain 2 pounds and notice how hard it is to fit in her clothes.  We are taller and can push the flab into the waist band a little easier.   "I guess".

Sorry its been a while, been sick with a stomach virus.. lost 9 lbs..good grief.

Its so hard, no matter which addiction you have, but I'd rather be fat then drunk too.

Another tall girl here 🙂 I'm 26 and 6ft ... Want to lose around 20lbs. I have experienced the same with clothes, I've gained 7lbs in the last year and still wear all the same clothes (and kid myself that I look basically the same).

Hi there!

I am 5'9 and 1/2 or 5' 10" on a good day. Because we are tall, at least when we do gain weight, it distributes properly until we put on too much weight!

@Eileenie Why is it harder when you are tall?

Hi, I'm 5'9' and want to loose at least 50lbs. The weight just seems to creap up every year and never go down, dispite my dieting efforts. I find now myself 22 lbs over the 200lbs I always thought was way too heavy for me. I have no idea how to make the extra weight disapear. The fitbit is helping me realize 10,000 steps is a hard goal to reach ..........I've hit 6,500 in my first two weeks of wearing it. I now need to 'step it up' to reach this week's goal of 7,500 steps. Nice meeting everyone ;o)

Hey Feistymoma. I too am looking to lose 69 pounds.  I live in Ontario Canada and right now it is on average minus 20 degrees.  I wish I could find someone around here at about the same mid-level fitness ability to go outside and walk or ski both downhill and cross country. I am too self consious to hit any gym. What is your fitness regime?

I'm on the tall end as well at 5'10", and while we all know that we will weigh more than our 5'2" friends, it's a mental roadblock sometimes to remind yourself that 120 lb for them might be fine, but that would put most of us in the hospital! I'm at 183 (down from 220), but often you can't mention that to the more petite gals without them looking at you like you're from Mars! In high school I was 140 lb and a size 4, so 145-150 is my ultimate goal now!

I'm 5'11", 29 years old, and feel like a giant because almost everyone I see regularly (at work or social gatherings) is short. I used to weigh more than I do now, and even after losing enough weight to take me to the mid 10-stone range, I still felt like a huge, broad, BIG girl. I've put on a couple of stone again, so that doesn't help, but shaking the idea that I'm bigger than I am is really hard.

Hi Ladies-

I'm 5'11" and 33 years old.  I think the hardest part about being tall and losing weight is it takes a significant amount of weight before anyone really notices.  Like someone else said, sometimes when you are tall, "it" (the fat) seems to be porportional to our bodies.

My goal is to lose 80 pounds, big goal, and I think this is the 100th time I have tried to do it. Smiley Happy  I'm excited to learn some new things from the ladies on here.  I'm always looking for a good support system.

I think you are right about no one noticing. My sister who was very overweight just lost 65 pounds and my other sister said to her...........not congratulations or good job but get this.........you should get better clothes. I never noticed.  Wow. talk about negative feedback.  When I saw her I totally congratulated her and encouraged her to keep it up and how amazing she now must feel.

Needless to say my 'smaller sister is an alcoholic'.  Does anyone ever say anything about that.  not so much.

Well now that I have vented.......thank you. It is easier to vent to a stranger.
