My body fat percentage jumped 1.2 percentage points overnight (from 23.6 to 24.8). There is NO WAY that could happen - usually, I fluctuate between 0.2-0.4 points, max. My weight is fine, however. Is my scale just off?

The thing is, I'm very tiny (we are talking about under 100 lb), so the 1.2 point jump seems significant!

You can create a free account at trendweight.com. You can link your FitBit account to it and then the data gets logged there automatically. It shows the trend, so it is easier to filter out the bumps.

@WavyDavey wrote:I understand. Unless you ate a 3500 calorie meal the night before, it's probably safe to say you didn't gain a pound of fat overnight. It's just a fluctuation in the readings. Make sure you take the readings at the same time every day for accuracy.
Oh, I didn't gain weight - it was just a bigger bounce in body fat percentage than usual.

My body fat percentage fluctuates by 2% regularly. I spend a lot of time in the gym and every time I think I am making some progress as a result the next day I jump back up 2% again.
I weigh myself overnight fairly regularly overnight and my BFP seems to increase 2% most of the time. Although I delete these entries and only count first thing in morning

Your scale is probably fine. Your hydration level can affect your fat percentage reading. I've got a withings scale and looking back over the past month I've had a couple of changes in the 1% range and one in the 2% range. Like you, I normally only fluctuate 0.2-0.4 day to day. I agree with @Esya, about inking your account to TrendWeight. Really helps you focus on weight/fat loss trends, as opposed to the daily noise associated with hydration changes.
