Hello everyone. I recently saw a commercial for a supplement called Benefiber Healthy Shape that is supposed to help you feel less hungry. I am afraid of weight loss pills and I am looking for something that isn't bad for me that will help curb my appetite. I was wondering if anyone has used this and if so how did it work for you? Also, it claims to have no taste but is this really true?
Thanks!

I like to stay away from "diet pills" because I believe that a well-rounded, healthy diet will be more beneficial to a quick fix from a diet pill. When you mention you need to curb your appetite, do you mean still feeling hungry after eating or having cravings?
As far as feeling hungry throughout the day, I try to make sure my meals are as filling as possible. Do some reasearch about what foods help you feel full longer. For example, I usually eat an egg for breakfast because it makes me feel full for longer than cereal. Eggs are great because they are versitle, you can fry or poach them or make an omelet, amongst other things.
To satisfy my cravings I look for either a low-calorie option or fruit. I love the 90 calorie Fiber One bars and they really help my sweet tooth. For fruit when I'm feeling really hungry for something kind of naughty I like eating half a banana covered in almond butter and semi-sweet chocolate. That is more satisfying to me than splurging on a chocolate bar.

Thank you for your reply but this isn't a diet pill. As I mentioned, I am afraid of taking diet pills because of the side effects and dangers but this is a powder supplement that you mix with water or another beverage that is supposed to help you feel full. I was just wondering if anyone had heard of this particular supplement or has used it.
Thanks again.

Benefiber Healthy Shape is has the same ingredient as regular Benefiber. Benefiber Healthy Shape has more fiber per dose, but dose sizes are a little different. The company can make the claim on the label because of the belief that a higher fiber diet satisfies your hunger longer. So any fiber supplement should give the same effect.
I have used regular Benefiber as a fiber supplement, when I was on a medication that had constipation as a side effect. It was a lower dose than the Healthy Shape dose, so I can't say it kept me fuller longer. It does dissolve completely and is tasteless.
Benefiber's fiber source is wheat dextrin (a wheat starch, not gluten -- a protein) and it is labeled as gluten free. Benefiber is a soluble fiber that is acted on by gut bacteria, so it can cause gas and bloating. If you use it, start small and then increase your dose.
If your regular diet is low in fiber, this might help, but it isn't a magic bullet.

I used to consume Benefiber dissolved in my orange juice on the break fast. I helped me to feel more satisfied during the morning.

I realize I found this string quite late, but I saw your post and thought I would add that my primary care physician actually recommended Benefiber to me to help me with my cravings. As others have stated, it is not a magic bullet, but I no longer am fighting hunger pains at 10am and I find that if I have some in my water with dinner I am less likely to crave a late evening snack.

That is right @VT1999! And the best part is that as long as you get used, you learn how to control those hunger pains by your own. That happened to me.

That sounds delicious! I never thought about the banana, almond butter and chocolate. Thanks for the tip
