Best practices for food logging?

Hello all, a newbie here 🙂    I was curious if people can share how they do their food logging and what works best for them?

As background I first started logging food via fitbit however I have noticed that some my food items (Raw Revolution snack bar for example) aren’t listed.  I also had some problems with the mobile app on my iPhone in that it wouldn’t let me select the meal type (bfast/lunch/etc).  A friend told me that they like using the My Fitness Pal app and I noticed that it syncs with fitbit so I set that up.  However what I notice when it does sync with fitbit is that it just shows the summary and no detail on the food items.  So obviously if you want to see the specifics and you have to via MFP.

I was wondering if you experts could share what works for you and why.  I don’t mind using multiple apps if that makes sense.  Also, are there other apps to try ?

All the best 😉

Hey Phil,

You quickly learn most people swear by MyFitnessPal, often referred to simply as MFP. There is an app and website. They have what's often regarded as the best food database. I wish fitbit had as good a database and included a barcode scanner like MFP. That makes logging much easier. You can connect the 2 accounts so the calories you log in MFP show up in fitbit if you're using fitbit to watch your daily in/out take of food.

I use the fitbit log and log online during the day. Friend me to see my logs. I don't eat bars or many packaged foods so logging is pretty easy.
