Hi guys, my lovely boyfriend bought me the fitbit flex and some lovely sketchers trainers for xmas to help me get motivated. I have only just today worn the trainers!! i do wear my flex every day but never check on my phone how I am doing or come on here. I started a new job in September last year working in a office. I love my job but the ladies I work with are stick thin but eat like pigs!! Im surrounded by chocolate. I have put on over a stone since working there. my clothes are so tight and i cant breath when i get to the top of the stairs!. I also have my own horse who broke a bone in her foot in February so i cant ride till shes better.
Basically I need some motivation to lose this weight and get fit! I do love my fitbit so its time I used it!!

Come on, chickie, you can DO this!!
Check your steps today and try to increase by 5% tomorrow. Start slowly - see how many steps you actually take and then increase.
Don't worry about what others are eating - bring your own treats. There's a bday celebration today in my office and there are fresh baked WARM bagels, cream cheese, orangecicle cupcakes and a fabulous looking peanut butter pie. It's up to me if I eat any of it. I outlasted the bagels and cream cheese - the cupcakes don't appeal to me and well, if I have the pie, I'll have a bite or two.
If you're trying to lose weight - try to have a weekly weigh-in, around the same time, in the same clothes. I do mine on Sautrday morning after yoga wearing my yoga shorts and a sports bra.
Find an acitivity that you LOVE! That you don't mind re-arranging your schedule for. I found bikram yoga on April 11th. That's like my new DATE. I have gone six days a week since finding it. Three months ago my favoirte two things in life were sugar and naps - now, it's yoga and how my body is changing. If I didn't love it, I wouldn't be able to go. It's so hard and SO hot.
Feel free to add me!!

What I have found to be helpful is to not think "I'm going to exercise and diet." Then it's something you have to do.
Better way is to think "I'm an athlete now, so I need to train and fuel like it."
If you get the identity in your head that way, it's somehow a more natural part of your thought process. You're not fighting it as much. When you go to the gym, that's what athletes do. When you have to choose something to eat, you're looking at fueling instead of emotional choices.
Mind you, I'm a 50-year-old office worker that is currently 35 pounds overweight, so I doubt any that knows me thinks of me that way. But it has helped me lose 12 pounds so far - and what they think isn't my problem anyway!
One other thing is to make it as enjoyable as you can. Get out and see some interesting places. Try new recipes and foods that sound different. If you hate boring treadmills, don't use them - go for a walk at a park instead, and bring some good music or even a podcast. Have fun with it!

Ignore that crap they are eating and don't whine too much. Walk up the steps, take the long way to the bathroom and drink lots of water. Do 10k daily and eat only healthy food in the right portions.
You can do this. You can dance to your favorite music. Make it important and focus on getting to your goal.
Best wishes,
Barbara
