i would suggest looking carefully at your diet and modifying it as needed. the majority of weight loss (at least for me) came from a change in what i was eating. i added in exercise after about 6 months.

Best Answerthe Arai body fat analysis is bull**ahem**. If I choose regular it indicates 20% and drops to 12.5% by choosing lean. It should give you a number that is accurate no matter what setting you choose. All this bull**ahem** machine is doing is using some algortithm to calculate you body fat percentage. it is not calculating via electrical impulses. Anybody that thinks this scale is any smarter than a $29 scale at bed Bath and Beyond is kidding themselves.

No, it is.
Up one leg and down the other. And from that and studies, it estimates the rest.
But since it can't see rest of your body, it has no idea if athletic or average - hence the better scales let you pick them.
Couple have you enter neck measurement as a method of deciding that, or waist. Those measurements with your gender, age, height, and weight indicate if athletic or average.
So it has a better chance of being upwards of 5% accurate than the cheaper scales.
But anyone can still present a badly hydrated body to the scale and cause it to be no better than 10-15% accurate too.
No tool has the ability to not be screwed up by the user of it.
