There are other sites for Calculating Calorie needs:
Figure your Resting Energy Expenditure (REE) 10 X your weight = calories per day + 6.25 X height in Cm minus 5 X your age. then multiply that answer by the activity factor. Moderate activity (some exercise almost every day is 1.55 which for me was 1146 calories a day to maintain my weight and 1017 for 3 times a week. To lose 1/2 # a week I would subtract 250 calories a day and eat 750 or 900 calories a day (moderation or light exercise). The Institute of Medicine"s middle of the road recommendation was 50% carbs, 30% fat and 20% protein.
