Calorie Defecit

Heya, this is something I've always been confused with since I started dieting years ago.

If I eat back all the calories that fitbit tells me I have left at the end of the day will I still be at defecit? For example today I've eaten 1,304 cals, burnt 2,573 cals and have 817 cals left to eat. My defecit aim is 750 (on the 'fairly hard' plan)

So if i eat the extra 817 cals will I then be at 750 defecit?

To be honest I don't think I could eat all of them anyway but I could deffo eat around 1600.

Burned 2573 - 750 deficit = 1823 eating goal

1823 - 817 left = 1006 eaten then.

You said eaten 1304 though.

None of the math adds up right - you getting the figures from the correct places?

Sound about right?

And yes - if you selected a weight loss plan, the deficit is in there already.

You merely need to eat less than you burn to lose weight, not start from some low for safety only level.

And bigger is NOT better on consistent basis. If you attempt that, your body will adapt and you'll find you no longer have a 750 cal deficit, body will find a way to conserve energy to better match what you feed it.

With 750 deficit, hope you 25 - 50 lbs to lose to healthy weight. That might be reasonable if fairly active.

And you need to rethink what you can eat, calorie dense. Perhaps you think fat is bad, it's not, plenty of healthy even vegetable fats available.

You didn't gain weight eating so little.

I never said I gained weight..(if you're still referencing from my last forum then this is a completely different subject)
I just literally copied the figures from my fitbit so maybe their system is a bit dodgy? Or maybe my selected deficit plan is 500 a day and not 750 although I'm pretty sure I set It to 750.
Could it be possible that it's actually doing a 500 deficit? I'm **ahem** at maths

Still seems off though, very strange.

Are those values off the app or website? Could be some syncing difference there I guess.

Because even with 500.

2573 - 500 = 2073 goal

2073 - 817 left = 1256 eaten.

1304 eaten though. 48 difference. Closer though, so sounds more like it.

Unless, you got the info before midnight, in which case the 817 left was estimate by Fitbit of how rest the day looked like it might go.

In which case.

1304 eaten + 817 left = 2121 goal eating + 500 deficit = 2621 total burn for day expected.

The point at which you looked though, you'd only gotten to 2573, so another 30-45 min to go for the day perhaps?

Think I was looking at the app.

I lost 1 lbs this week which would put me at 500 defecit a day providing I was reaching my calorie goals etc, so it probably is set to 500 but I thought I changed it, i'll try and change it again later.

think I looked in the evening so before midnight
