Calorie deficit

ANSWERED
Hi! I'm having a hard time eating enough calories to keep me in the "green" zone and am constantly under. Could someone explain better to me the calories in- out philosophy? Do the calories I'm recommended to intake during the day change based on activity? For some reason I'm having a difficult time wrapping my head around this. Thanks!
