"... campaign to break loose from the sugar industry’s powerful grip"

The conspiracy theory kind of makes me smile. I imagine the evil sugar industrialists secretly injecting as much sugary stuff as possible into their food products without telling unsuspecting consumers. Everything processed is fully labelled nowadays, so what every single product contains shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. Marshmallows aren’t exactly new, and even kids who can’t read labels can figure out they’re full of sugar.

The sugar industry promotes sugar. The fat industry promotes fat. The meat industry promotes meat. Name of the game. Problem is: lot of people just consume too much of everything, in relation to what they expend.
