Calories burned question

I'm curious why it is so hard to get my "Calories burned" very high.  I'm 5'3", 124 pounds.

Here are some recent stats:

STEPS-CALORIES BURNED (per Fitbit dashboard)

24,165-1,900

25,116-1,936

24,436-1,971

27,186-2,046

30,113-2,058

So, I walk 2,987 more steps and only burn another 12 calories?  Does it have to do with active minutes?  I have the One, so my heartrate isn't measured.

Thanks, everyone!

What kind of tracker are you using?  Does it measure your heart rate as well as your steps?

Also, make sure you have your height/weight entered appropriately in your profile.

Based on your height/weight (not knowing your age), your BMR is probably in the 1200 to 1300 calories per day range.  So it does seem as if your calories burned is too low.

I have the One.

It does not measure heartrate.

Height, weight, age and gender are all entered accuately.

I would think that has at least something to do with it, as it is basically guessing and giving you a standard "per step" calorie burn.  That paired with your small stature and lower BMR to begin with would help to explain the lower numbers.

For reference, I'm 5' 9" and currently around 196lbs.. so far today I'm at around 8600 steps (including a 20 minute jog this morning), and I'm at just under 1900 calories burned.  I have the Charge HR.

Another data point... I'm 5'8" and about 200 pounds - so far today I'm at 20,784 steps (includes taking care of 11 horses, cleaning up the barn and a 4.4 mile run at about a 9:00 pace), and I'm sitting at 3,054 calories on the day (current local time 3:30 PM).

calories in and out are all based on estimations. if you have an HR function you are a bit closer to accurate on measuring out. your one is using your data points in comparison to others with your same or similar data points to give you calories burned. it has no way of tracking your more accurate expenditure of energy. Plus you are tiny so your calories are going to be less than someone who is bigger for the same activity.
