Hey there @Allisonsmom ! I'll be glad to provide some information on this.  Smiley Happy

While we do not have a list of charities that may use your Fitbit towards their programs, I'd recommend to check personally with them, to see if your steps can help towards their causes. Smiley Very Happy

On a different note, you can get benefits from linking your account to certain pages that give our rewards; I'd recommend the Balance Rewards page (here), EveryMove (here), Earndit (here) and many more that you can find on our Apps page here

Hello again @jolieivy ! I wanted to add some comments to my previous response Smiley Happy  Unless a particular Charity or NGO that has a "steps for charity" program have a page created at the Fitbit Portal; your steps would count towards their causes; but you'll need to contact them to add you to their specific program.

@Allisonsmom Fitbit can be linked to a charity or NGO Program through an API, which is a tool for developers to register an App they've created towards their particular interest. The Charity would need to contact Fitbit to request the information to get started, the Customer Support team (link here) takes care of this. Smiley Happy

What is the intended purpose of the group you are referencing? Is it a local charity or NGO or a part of a larger charity you'd like to branch out?

You can create a group through https://www.fitbit.com/groups/create and ask fellow members to join you Man Happy

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions Smiley Happy

Thank you for reaching out @YooperAnnie! If the charity you are walking for created a third party extension, you can link it through your computer and mobile device. If you are to join a challenge for the charity, it's only via Mobile device.

If the charity has a group setup on the fitbit website then yes you can connect. Otherwise the Fitbit device wont redirect and connect anywhere else.

This would be for the overall program. Main office, as well as all chapter locations. It will enable us (chapter/program sites & main office) to further maintain and sustain the program, allowing further education & suicide prevention.

The organization is the Light for Life Foundation Int'l/Yellow Ribbon Suicide Prevention.

Our Mission

The Light for Life Foundation Int’l/Yellow Ribbon Suicide Prevention Program® is dedicated to preventing suicide and attempts by Making Suicide Prevention Accessible to Everyone and Removing Barriers to Help by:

  • Empowering individuals and communities through leadership, awareness and education; and
  • By collaborating and partnering with support networks to reduce stigma and help save lives.

Do you have to have a smart phone to walk for charity or can you do it through your laptop and fitbit flex? I don't know much about computers. Thanks
