Welcome all Challengers! What an amazing group we have!
Let's all continue together to take off the excess pounds and keep getting healthier.
This challenge will begin on Christmas and finish on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14.
All you need to join this challenge is to post your stats regarding your weight, and check in weekly or as often as you'd like. We are a great support group and enjoy keeping up with each other and being there for our ups and downs. Generally we have found that the more we check in and offer support, tips, info, and ideas to others, the more we get for ourselves.
We list our weight, as well as any other goals we might have related to being healthy (such as increase water, more active minutes, etc). Developing good health habits is primary.
A little rundown of terminology for anyone who is new.
USW- Ultimate Starting Weight
CSW- Current Starting Weight (for this challenge)
GW- Goal Weight (for Feb 14)
UGW- Ultimate Goal Weight (what your healthy target weight is)
PW- Previous Weight
CW- Current Weight
MFP- My Fitness Pal
List as much info as you like. Some people include age, gender, height....whatever seems relevant to you.
We keep it as serious or light as we feel, but we always keep it focused on being as healthy as possible, while we support each other kindly. We can do this together!!

Happy New Year Everyone!
I was tempted to post my weight from yesterday, but I've committed to weighing in every Sunday. I know weight fluctuates each day, but I wish it had landed on a low day on my 'official' weigh in. 🙂
USW= 235 lbs (This is the heaviest I've ever been.)
CSW= 235 lbs
CW= 233.8 (yesterday, it was 232.6)
GW= 225 lbs
UGW= 125 lbs
I'm only 5'0" tall, so my BMI is very high. I really need to get it under control before it starts negatively affecting my health. I'm just under Type 2 Diabetes; I know I could easily get it if I don't lose weight. I'm re-committing myself to lose weight this year- at least 40 lbs, hopefully much more, but realistically, I think 40 lbs is very manageable.
Hope everyone has a Happy New Year! God Bless!

Week One Day 7:
I sat around much of the morning and decided I needed to do something. My daughter invited her buddy over, both are suffering mild hangovers, and they wanted to order food. I picked my stuff to order, she was doing up the total and I thought, "What am I doing??" I had made my veggie soup yesterday, have a cooked chicken breast in the fridge, lots of healthy, non-salty things to eat. So, I told her to remove my selections and I wasn't ordering. Instead, I took the dogs on their walks and did 4600 steps. This journey is about breaking the patterns that got me in this mess in the first place! I have to be diligent at every moment! I know I would have regretted that meal, as it would have been expensive, wouldn't have tasted as good as I imagined, and then the guilt would have weighed on me more than the calories. I'm proud of myself.
I had a full breakfast this morning, forgot to take my meds but taking them now, fixing lunch, and will do treadmill later. I can't wait to get back in the pool tomorrow.
I hope everyone is having a successful January 1. Be happy and healthy.

So, an odd start. My eating has basically on point all week but I didn't see much movement. I was doing some batch cooking the past few days so it is possible I didn't account for the picking that I did. I'm also a little concerned that I'm not eating enough. I'm consistently hitting over 4000 calories burned each day so if I don't see much movement I may raise them slightly. For those that don't know me, I do better on higher calories when trying to lose weight.

I have ended the year though 94 lbs lighter than I likely started it (my official start was Feb 2nd, 2016). I also managed to do 20,000 steps a day for all of December. A good year.

Lilac, good for you, hold your ground! You are so "right" that this journey is about breaking the patterns.
Just keep moving one step at a time.......
It took me a hour to shovel my driveway this morning, then I went on a 3 mile walk in the blowing wind and snow. And it really was one step at a time but I kept moving, I feel so good doing that!

Awesome that you would walk 3 miles in wind and snow. That's committment!

I'm back. I'll be starting over as I have put my fitbit away for awhile. It was simply irritating my wrist. Plus it was irking me because it was marking steps when I was crocheting. I'm going to have to find a way to tie it to my waist when I have no pockets. Next week I start a 30 day challenge with a friend
I'm starting this challenge on the 9th.

Overactive dogs!! I took them for a second walk today, which means more steps for me! I have no idea how to track my homemade soup. All that's in it is cabbage, carrots, celery, canned diced tomatoes, onion and two tbsp of chicken bouillion. I'd say it's pretty low-cal.
I didn't sleep well, amassing a whopping 4.5 hours of sleep last night. I yawned through the afternoon but refused to nap, because I wanted to sleep well tonight. I'm short 2500 steps for a 10,000 total so I'll do some marching while watching tv. It won't take long.
The year has started out well, one day in. @A_Lurker is so inspiring. We can all make the committment necessary to be the healthiest versions of ourselves. I've promised myself. I won't let myself down.

Hi everyone! *waves* My name is Juli. 🙂
I would like to join this challenge. I have been a fitbit user for quite a while but I have never participated in anything on the boards other than some problem solving of issues with my fitbit.
CSW: 155
GW: 145
I am looking forward to getting to know some of you here on the board. I can already see from reading back that you guys will be a good inspiration!

Welcome newbies,,@Jocy50
Try to tie your fitbit to your ankles with a piece of string or elastic. I will catch all your steps even when you have things to carry in your arms.
I got a size large in the Charge2 as it will goes around my ankle. I made an extra slot in it so it will fit on my wrist as well.
Also, on the Yes list is
Yes veggies,
Yes salad,
Yes fruit,
Yes lean protein,
Yes nuts,
Yes seeds
Yes berries.
Happy New Years,
Barbara G

Hi Fitbitters
I have almost lost the Xmas weight.
SW 150.3
CW 147.5 1/1
GW 144 2/14
I will be gone from 1/7 to 1/17 on a cruise so that will be a challenge.
I will have a small skin lession removed on 1/19 and can't raise my blood pressure for about 3 wks if I understand it right. Well walking briskly raises the blood pressure so I won't be burning my normal amount of calories for part of the challenge. If I hit 144 by 2/14 I'll be relieved and if I beat it then woo hoo.
We are going to have a healthier new year. Let's enjoy each and every day.

Anne makes a great point about storage places for our extra weight. I store my extra padding mostly on my belly as does my sister. We are apple shaped when over weight. My friend carries her excess on hips and bottom so she is pear shaped.
In spite of Glamour magazines there really is no one right type of body, height or shape. We are just in need of finding the best we can be and enjoy it on the journey to health.
Oops time to move again been sitting toooo long again.

Well, it looks like I'm not going to be revising my Challenge Goals after all. Yesterday took care of that!
27 Dec - CSW - 183.4 (The Gain isn't Water according to my Scales. It's Fat.)
14 Feb - GW - 175
UGW - (but not a "Healthy" BMI) - 150
Didn't even get 8,000 Steps yesterday! Haven't done that bad since 23 October. Didn't get any Active Minutes at all!! All of my walking was short term. It was partly due to my Bad Attitude but also partly due to current Workload. FYE (Fiscal Year End) adds a TON of Work that needs to be completed ASAP!!!
I'm doing better today, but Workload will reduce my Walking Time & Distance. I expect to get my 10K though. And I already have 23 Active Minutes.

@SunsetRunner So glad to see you back! How have you been? I hope you contacted fitbit support about the problems you are having with it. They should help. I don't wear mine while sleeping. I did several times to see my sleep pattern, and didn't find it that helpful. I already knew I was tired! And it had me sleeping while I was reading in bed. I thought I'd give my wrist a break. Support should have an answer for you.
I love your 30 day challenge. You can do this! What a nice way to start the new year.
