Cutting Soda

Hello,

Girlfriend and I just started getting into trying to be a bit more healthy. First thing she does is try to cut Soda as she used to drink it frequently. I currently never had a problem as I mostly like diet soda anyways and I don't drink it often. Anyways, since she has cut it she has been feeling very weak and not well. I assume this is normal and I'm guessing it has to do with the lack of sugar that her body is used to.

Any suggestions on healthier ways for her too substitute the sugar so she doesn't feel so weak? I suggested fruits such as apples and grapes but I don't know a whole lot when it comes to nutrition other than the basics. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Cutting fizzy drinks is hard, I keep getting hit by it. I can usually manage to stop for a couple of months, then I end up having one and then very quickly I'm back up to about a liter a day.

I usually have the withdrawl effects, though thankfully they aren't as bad as the used to be (I used to regularly drink 2l+ of Coke a day).

! I found that one of my favorite things about ice cole coca-cola was the ice cold part. that quanch is it for me. the sugar and caffeine not so much, I used to drink 1 liter of coke per day. it came to apoint where my heart rate was amost erratic. that was the trigger for me to stop. I switched to iced water and voilà! nowadays I have a morning coofee, sometimes another after lunch. lost 10 pounds in the process.

Today marks an interesting day for me. I guess it's a type of anniversary. I never said "I am going on a diet" but at the beginning of my decisions to live healthier was a choice to quit drinking pop and 99% of sugary beverages. One year ago today I was out for supper in Battleford after an evening ride with friends and eating a steak and drinking a coke. I looked down and realized that I could not get serious about it and continue this way. So, on the ride home, I decided to not drink pop anymore.
One year, 103 lbs and 10 pants sizes later my waist is finally a smaller number than the length on my jeans for the first time since grade 10.

That is a great 1-year anniversary to celebrate, @tamado!  I am so glad to hear that! I haven't had a pop in so long that I can't remember what they taste like.  When I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, I had to switch to diet pop and I very soon realized I didn't like the aftertaste of them. So, giving them up was really easy for me.

I understand her problem, when I stopped drinking sodas I replaced it with lemon water slowly going cold turkey won't work because you will be back to drinking sodas again but the lemon water helps with your digestion system
