DASH stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension. It is a balanced eating plan and has been shown to be effective in reducing blood pressure. It is also regarded to being a good, all around weight loss diet and a balanced diet for diabetics.
I'm a follower in the reducing sodium part. It suggests a higher percentage of calories from carbohydrates than I want to eat (it recommends 55% and I want mine to be less than 45%). I also get a higher percentage of my calories from healthy fats.

I'm just learning about the DASH diet (introduced to me by my Health Ins. Health Coach) as a sensible approach to healthy eating. I am liking it a lot as I can more easily track what I need and what I consume INSTEAD of the complicated calorie counters. I would love to see an app created to track meat, grain, dairy etc...

I used the DASH diet for approximately 4 weeks and got side track with events in my life. I am now getting back on it, beginning 3 days ago. I lost 8 lbs the 1st go, but gained it back. It was easy to follow and I felt great while following the diet plan.

How can I get help in adding to the DASH diet Plan and according to my workouts, it can calculate how much sodium do I need to prevent "low-sodium".
Somedays I worked out more (yesterday...Steps: 10k, Zone 112). My urine was clear. I think it should be pale yellow. Not sure if I drank more water or less salt intake? I kept eating snacks to increase salt but afraid it may increase my Hypertension.
It would be a good tracker for sodium. currently in fitbit it does not calculate sodium. Also it will be easier to have computer calculate according to my workouts.

Hi LZeeW, could you help me understanding what is 55% and 45% of what in calories. How do you count it?
I don't understand my own question. Please see my question on the top. (shalini).
I was eating very less salt and it created headaches and eventually low-sodium after drinking water with a Headache medicine. I ate hamburger at lunch but no dinner and took the med with a lot of water (as it said).
I don't know how to get help from Premium?
