Extreme fluctuating BFP

Hi all, I have been losing lots of weight since I've changed up my diet to only chicken and vegetables and recently got a new scale measuring bfp. The first day I had it it was at 22%, then the next 2 days it would fluctuate a little bit (as expected). However, it's only been 5 days total and now it's been drastically rising out of nowhere (yesterday 26 and somehow today 29), I can see visually that I am definitely not up to those percentages and do not think it's possible to get that high within 5 days. Has anyone else had ridiculous fluctuations with these kinds of scales? For reference I have a Healthometer clinical scale.

BIA scales of which that is one, if tested as accurate can be around 5% if you present exactly the same hydrated body to it each time.

That is unlikely, and likely not that accurate anyway, so easily 10-15% range on it. That easily covers the numbers you saw, 7% or each side of a reading.

And that's if it's consistent - if you step off, get back on and test again, and get different readings - forget it.

Considering if you were down just 16 oz of water weight, but scale weight the same because of more food in stomach - you just lost 1 lb LBM (Lean Body Mass, everything but fat), therefore the FM (Fat Mass) went up by 1 lb, therefore the %'s changed.

Water is part of LBM.

And you are correct, fat is not lost or gained fast, therefore it's all about water weight changes or accuracy issues.

Yes, use for a month logging numbers, hope you got a consistent scale, and see a trend from there.

Forget anything under 30 days as meaningful or actionable.
