Got my fitbit on my birthday 12/2. My feet are killing me! Blisters on balls of feet, tops of toes, hurts to just stand flat on ground barefoot. I'm assuming this is due to me trying to get off my behind at least once an hour and walk around office at work in dress shoes. Anyone else have similar problems when they began to increase their activity?
Debating both pricey new shoes and a trip to a podiatrist!

You nailed it..... get better shoes. I have several pair and some fit better than others for my walks. Those that do not work well are finding their way to the trash.
Some shoes are fine for short walks like general office but suck for busier activities. If you feet hurt you will not walk a lot and that is not a good thing.

yep- you need good shoes. I wear heels at work so the walking is minimal. and I work in a professional environment so no sneakers for me- plus I endeavor to be fabulous. But outside of work I wear Nike Free- best sneakers. I do every workout including running in them. Still get blisters though on my big toe which sometimes hinders the fabulousness.. but I was even less fab 65 pounds ago- so I'll take it.

I agree with the others. Go to a running speciality store and they'll figure out the best shoe for your walking stride. Until then, invest in some quality insoles.

I totally agree with the others. Socks as well can cause Blisters so make sure you ask them about good socks when you go as well.

I have had the same problem. I work in an office setting and since I have been focused on becoming more active, I have noticed a huge difference in how my feet have felt. I have had to invest in better shoes. I have gone from regular flats to more loafer type shoes that give a little more support and that I can pair with socks a little better. It has helped tremendously.
Good luck finding what will work for you!

You still are not wearing the proper shoe. You need walking shoes not loafers. I do hope you dont walk to much as you will injure yourself. You need proper walking shoes

In addition to trying new shoes like the others mentioned, have you tried soaking your feet in a mixture of epsom salt and rubbing alcohol? I soak my entire body in it including feet and they feel rejuvenated after a scrub. Give it a try.

I have bad feet to begin with, well one bad foot. I have had foot surgery on my big toe. It doesn't bend the way it should even after surgery. When I worked at a bank I bought Dansko shoes. They do have some dressier shoes but they are not cheap. Those did help some, and allowed me to put off surgery for a few years. I also have custom made insoles from a podiatrist that I wear daily as well. They kind of suck because they are so big I have issues finding shoes they fit it. They help my feet and back a ton though, I can feel it when I do not wear them. But now I can wear tennis shoes so the insoles fit in them nicely, I am on my feet more than I am sitting at my job now. Most people in my profession now either wear Dansko clogs or Tennis shoes.
In short, find a comfortable shoe and maybe even see a podiatrist to inquire about custom insoles. I used nice store bought ones but the custom ones are so much better.

Watch out in dress shoes or , squeezing toes together promote Neuroma. I have that now and wouldn't wish on any one.

Aching feet and if your shoes are bald are signs your shoes need replacing. Target sells affordable running shoes you can wear even for walking. Most business offices let you get away with wearing sneakers versus wearing high heels which would definitely destroy your ankles.

I keep a pair of beat up sneakers and socks at my desk. I wear those when I do my breaks. I bring 4 pair of socks on Monday and each day bring home the dirty pair.I found if I tried to remember daily I would forget.
I'm in a professional environment but if I put sneakers on and take the back stairwell no one notices. I see lots of worker bees with sneakers on at lunch and breaks. You could also keep sneakers in your car and change them there and avoid anyone in the building.07-07-2017 22:30

I wear cap toe flat crocs at work. They look like flats but they are really really comfy and dressy enough for the professional office. They have other dressy styles as well. You want to choose one that has sort of a thicker heel because it will be more cushy than the thinner soled flats. I have walked 40k steps in them and had no foot pain at all. It is like walking on squishy clouds.

Thankfully I always wear sensible shoes. Cheaper than a podiatrist.

When you have shoes that are too tight in some places, put on soaked socks and walk in those shoes with the wet socks until they are dry. This only works for leather though and takes about half an hour.
