Food Plan sedenary v. personalized

Hello All:

I was wondering if anyone has determined that the sedentary or personalized food plan works better for their weight loss program?

Thanks,

Lisa

It really depends on when you are going to sync the device.

If you understand what it's doing, you may spot which will work better.

Settings - Calorie Estimation - Enabled (personalized food plan) means Fitbit looks at prior day history of total calorie burn, and assumes today will be the same, and bases eating level on that.

If you sync all through the day that is corrected as the day goes on, and eating goal may bounce around a bit depending on how equal your days are to prior days.

If you don't sync until late at night and you actually were not as active, you may have eaten over goal. If you were much more active, you may have missed goal by unhealthy amount.

If you forgot your device and each day is about the same, then you get some credit you wouldn't get otherwise.

For setting of Disabled (sedentary) means Fitbit assumes the day will be sedentary level of activity, and sets eating goal to that. So it starts lower (unless your normal day really is sedentary all day).

If you sync all through the day, then that is corrected and eating goal correctly goes up when you burn more than sedentary amount.

If you sync late at night after your workouts and done eating, you would have missed a lot of calorie allowance and that would not be healthy on constant basis.

So whether it effects your weight loss program totally depends on you and when you sync, and your days, and will you eat more later in day if need be.

The odds that someone else will match you in their usage of the device and when their workouts are and when they sync will be rather chancy - so hope that helped decide.

Either option, big take away - don't sync for the first time right before bed when done eating.
