Hi everyone,
im new to Fitbit and have had the charge 4 for 5 days. I’m having some trouble understanding the calorie side of things in the app. I have my calorie deficit set to 1000.
I’m a 23 year old 6ft1 male and weigh 218pounds and have 25% body fat ( worked body fat out using a body fat Caliper which can have errors and not be consistent)
I work as a Loader on the back of a dustcart for my local council every Monday, on this day I usually walk / run / jog 18km up and down hills (23,000 steps ish) . At the end of the day my fit bit says I have burned 4761 calories and it wants to me eat 3761 calories throughout the day. Which I find it hard to do , I get to 2500 calories and don’t want to eat anymore.
so my question is , is this right? Or makes sense , and if anyone would have any information or shed some light on this. Would be appreciated.
Also like I said I only do this job as a loader on a Monday as I do a different job for the council Tuesday to Friday which consists of driving a van and collecting clinical waste. on these days my calories burned are lower unless I exercise of course.
so another question on that would be : Do I have to change my diet every Monday when I’m on a dustcart and burn more calories?
Thank you

Hi @HaydenFC - It sounds like you are doing just fine. Calorie recommendations are just that - recommendations, especially since your calorie burn varies from day to day. As long as you are at a healthy weight, maintain a healthy diet and you feel good, you should not eat more than you are comfortable eating. Keep up the good work! My only suggestion is this - once things settle down in this world, schedule a physical and ask your doctor these questions. It’s always good to get a professional opinion.
