How to get motivated

I'm a newlywed. Over the last year i've gained roughly 7 pounds. With all the changes that my husband and I have endured in the last 9 months, My healthy eating and exercise have fallen to the wayside. I want to get back in shape, but I have no idea where to start after being out of the gym for so long. Can someone help?

Instead of starting with the gym, start with nature.  Walking is easy and free.  You can plot routes in your area that last about an hour roundtrip on foot from your home to start.  As time progresses, you will notice your endurance building and your pace getting quicker.  After say, a month or so, you can move up to something more challenging (or just stick to walking).

Also, try some resistance training.  If you don't have weights, try jugs (quart/gallon, etc) and fill it with water until it gives you a good challenge to lift it.

And don't forget the diet, a very important aspect of weight loss.  Eat fewer calories than you burn, and consume nutritious foods.

Allow to rest as well so the muscles are able to recover properly. Try eating when hungry until comfortably satisfied on natural foods when possible, these are lower on calories overall, provide the body the nutritients it needs, feeling satisfied longer automatically.. eat slower, enjoy the foods you eat, when eating slower, recognizing faster to feel when having eaten enough.. nearly impossible to overeat on those foods even until satisfied.

Enjoy

Hello
This might sound silly but I brought out the kid in me by purchasing a hoola hoop and a jump rope. I also use my back stairs for my workout. While hoola hooping I am smiling at all my fond memories. It is also so convenient to step outside enjoy the fresh air and get a great workout! This works for me and is just a suggestion.
As always you need to do what is safe and physically OK for you☺
