Try to aim for 30-45 mins of moderate to high intensity cardio several times a week. Try the elliptical, cycling, jogging, whatever you enjoy. Cardio burns fat. Also, stomach crunches and abdominal exercises should be added to your workout routine. It takes time so don't get discouraged if you don't see results right away. Good luck!Smiley LOL

I too have stomach fat issues but I've been feeling skinnier now that I've been drinking my water and they say that green tea (hot or cold) helps with the shrinkage of the belly fat too!  Just make sure you eat before you do lots of cardio and/or crunching cause you don't want to work out on an empty stomach!! Good luck to you! 🙂

Thank you! I do believe I need to be doing more cardio but have been having a hard time pushing myself to do so. I will need to push myself!!

I would recommend taking about 7:30 minutes a day and doing a few high intensity exercises designed to burn calories in that area of your body.

5 sets of stair climbers for 30 seconds

5 sets of planking (not the joke type) for 30 seconds

5 sets of ab crunches for 30 seconds.

Try to do 1 set of each for 30 seconds and then move to the next one, the next one, and then start over again.  If you do this really well and maintain a good diet, you'll build your core and start seeing some results pretty quick, but you must do it at least 5 times a week.

Good luck

everyone above has advised you on exercise.

i'll change it up a bit and ask, what are you eating?  the problem may not be exercise.  i changed my diet 7 months ago (no change to exercise) and have lost about 70 lbs.

I think most people are advising in exercise because she specifically mentioned stomach fat, as opposed to having a general weight issue.

Fat comes off your body in the order that it went on your body.  You can work on losing fat, but you cannot target certain areas.  In my case, I put the fat on my waist/abdomen first, and it's the last to go.  I've lost 75 lbs. and only gone down 2 pant sizes, because the waist/abdominal fat is the last to go.  I've gone down several sizes in tops though.

A good friend of mine who recently lost 43 lbs and is now at her goal weight still has a small pooch in her lower abdomen.  It doesn't matter how much she exercises, the pooch will always be there.  As with myself, she lost weight all over the rest of her body before she started to lose weight in her abdomen.  Her mother and grandmother also had the stomach pooch their entire lives.

You'll have to change your body composition by adding lean muscle and then taking away more fat.

Scenerio A: You do cardio until you're blue in the face and eat at a calorie deficit to lose fat. You have to reach 80 lbs before you reach a low enough body fat % to lose the rest of your abdominal fat. You burn away even more lean muscle which makes it even harder to lose abdominal fat without reaching an incredibly low weight.

or

Scenerio B: You implement a proper and challenging full body strength training program, do minimal cario (3x week for 30 min sessions) and eat a 200-400 cals surplus to gain weight (muscle and hopefully minimal fat gain with a clean and healthy diet) for about 6 months. This will increase your LBM (lean body mass). Then you do a slight calorie deficit for 6 months while continuing to strength train and trying to maintain LBM and reduce fat. This will result in lowering your body fat percentage vs. lean muscle and you will have a lower body fat percentage while maintaining a healthy weight. So instead of being 120 lbs with a BF of 25%, you may achieve 120 lbs with a BF of 20% which may be enough to reduce belly fat. You can do a few cycles of gaining muscle and then losing fat to get to where you want to be.

I also have a much bigger belly than I did before kids but I've done this and it's reduced it by a lot. I have a smaller waist line now at 115 lbs than I did at 105 lbs and plan to do another cycle to get to where I want to be. However, I keep my expectations realistic... I certainly don't expect to have the stomach I had before my pregnancies but I now can see upper ab definition I never had before and am only 1" away from my pre-pregnancy measurements.

@KJScarp There are at least a few studies that disagree with the random blogger and myfitnesspal community.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16985258 - Study by Yale

At any rate, it is true that dieting will rid the body of fat sooner than any exercise, but it makes sense to me that an area with a higher muscle density would tend to at least gain fat slower and possibly burn it faster.  In my own experience it seems like my face was the last place to show my weight gain, but when I was a lower weight it seemed like my face was the last to shed the pounds.

Of course everyones bodies experience weight loss differently, so my own experiences are hardly evidence.

Well, the OP used the words "lose stomach blubber fast".  It *may* be possible to lose the weight as those few men in the study did (NOTE:  the subjects were men, and men often have different fat composition and distribution then women), but highly unlikely.  As a society we see all of these ads for sketchy supplements that promise to "lose belly fat now", and people fall for that junk.  It's not going to happen without the hard work proposed by JenniLacey's Scenario B, but that wouldn't be the "fast" results that the OP is searching.

So, no, unless the OP is willing to put in a lot of effort and work, and a LOT of time, then there is not way to spot reduce her stomach blubber, as she likes to call it.

I never saw that phrase used anywhere and in her follow up respones she made it sound like she has been putting in quite a bit of time and effort.

It's the title of the topic we are responding to.

.Ah.  Got it.

Honestly, this forum doesn't make sense to me sometimes.  Often times where I believe the title should be, it puts the first few words of the latest resopnse.   Anyway, I guess her responses contradict the title then.  As she mentioned that she had been working hard at it for a while now.  I guess "fast" could be relative?

I agree!  When I get a notification on my smartphone, I can't tell which thread the response belongs to until I can get to my computer.  Sometimes I can figure it out based on the response, but for the most part I'm clueless until I have the opportunity to view it on my computer.

I'll have to disagree with the cardio burns fat.  Muscle burns fat, therefore you need to lift weights.  The more muscle you have the higher your metabolism gets.  You continue to burn calories after a weight/strength session, whereas with cardio, you stop burning calories once you are done.

Sometimes the food you eat can affect your stomach.  There could be a negative reaction to a certain food you are eating.

I can't express how important weight lifting is in order to change the shape of your body.

I just saw this. Cardio DOES burn fat.  Muscle DOES burn fat.  I wouldn't suggest to someone that cardio can't get you into the condition that you want.

Many people, like my girlfriend, HATE doing weights... they prefer spinning or high intensity cardio and that is perfectly ok.  Additionally, cardio has various benefits for your heart that lifting weights won't provide.

I think I'll chime in my own worthless opinion.

Yes, cardio can burn fat. But - weightlifting does it far more effectively.

However, just like with weightlifting, cardio must be done well. This so-called "fat-burning zone" doesn't really do much, if anything to burn fat compared to high-intensity cardio. When you get all huffing and puffing, these are calories being spent. Energy is used to cool yourself down. Once you get to your normal temperature, with breathing back to normal - there is no more benefit. That's it.

With weight-lifting, if you do intense lifting - that is, very little resting in between sets - trust me, it becomes aerobic. You will be huffing and puffing. And - your muscle fibers get broken down. It takes energy to repair them. And - they get bigger (it takes a tremendous amount of time and effort in both men and women to get larger muscles) - which raises your caloric demands to sustain the muscles.

So, FitBeachbod and Runnergirl318 both hit the nail right on the head if you ask me. (well, nobody did, lol)

JenniLacey also appears to know what she's talking about. So much so, that I want to hire her to be my coach!

Y'all have a nice day. I gotta go hit the gym.
