Welcome one and all to our next challenge for better health and weight loss or maintenence.
We gather here to support each other, cheering and empathizing with the process of life style
change to improve our health and quality of life.
Set reasonable goals so you can feel success.
USW= heaviest weight when you began to lose
SW=starting weight
CW=current weight
GW=goal weight for Labor Day
UGW = Ultimate goal weight - long term healthy weight goal
Some people include their BMI = Body Mass Index, and some add their height as well.
You can stop by once a week and post your progress or every day to get and give ideas and support.
Most people track their food intake as well as steps to make sure you burn at least 500 to 750 more calories than you consume. Remember eat healthy food and portions in a way that you can maintain.
We can do this together. We have seen great progress over the last 7 challenges.
Welcome.

Greetings all,
I have had a busy week, though not quite as full on as last week, Maintenance is having its ups and downs at least as far as the scale goes.
USW June 2013, 84 kg, 185.2 lb,
CSW July 9, 2016, 56.7kg, 125 lbs, BMI 23.6
LW 56.9kg, 125.5lbs, BMI 23.7
CW 57.3kg, 126.3lbs, BMI 23.9 but at least Im still rocking around in the same area as yesterday I was 56.9kg and the day before. My food intake has been consistantly just 40-100 cals under my output, but water and sleep have not been very consistant but I think thats due to some very unseasonal weather here and will settle down. My acivity has increased until the rain started again and I go to gym three sessions each week now. Really looking forward to my holiday in August when I head off to visit my family at the other end of Queensland. Wishing you all a super week. Keep your eyes on the goals folks, they are worth the effort.

Hi all,
Getting hot today, probably hits 90F, the weather person says.
I'm fixing faucets, etc. and watering plants.
Misplaced my fitbit on Thurs and I haven't found it. Darn.
Weight went from 145.9 to 147.7 back to 145.9 back to 147.0 as of this morning.
Ridiculous trampoline behavior and I have been eating well and not high carbs either.
I guess we can say my body is maintaining it's current weight well.
Still not able to dance as I used to due to sternum trauma. The chiropracter said it may take 4-6 weeks to heal and I'm off to buy tumeric to reduce inflammation. I guess the sternum and ribs didn't like the airbag and seatbelt impact but hey other than that I'm fine.
Thanks for the food prep ideas folks.
Keep at it.

@dancefoxtrot Barbara, I'm so glad the accident wasn't worse, but the sternum/rib injury doesn't sound any too pleasant to deal with. How do you treat that? The only things I can think of are to drink tons of water and eat loads of anti-inflammatories, like you are doing. (tons of leafy greens are healing, loads of other fruits and veggies to get all the vitamins and minerals, and spices - I think they all have healing properties, especially turmeric and ginger.) I'm not sure how much turmeric you would need; probably quite a bit.
Sending you the strongest healing vibes I can muster. We need you to be dancing again. I wouldn't worry about the weight now. Your body is focused on healing. The weight will work itself out when you are better.

Venting. (and still laughing) I ate in an Italian restaurant with several other people to celebrate a few birthdays, including my son's. I hear the pizza, pasta, meatballs, etc were delicious. I hear the desserts were great (I had one bite of one) My kale salad (no dressing) was wonderful. I drank water. That was after being in the gym and working out like crazy. It's been about two months.
My scale (not broken) still hasn't budged at all. I couldn't keep my weight this steady if I tried.
Since several of us have scales that aren't moving, I'm thinking it's the summer heat, the barometric pressure on the scale. Maybe climate change

Sorry for jumping back in and I don't mean to hijack the thread, but can anyone recommend a brand of clothing for in-between sizes? I'm not quite ready for a large yet in most labels, but a 1X is a bit too big. I have taken in my tops that I could, and they look a bit better, but honestly I'm not great at sewing nor do I enjoy it. I also don't want to invest a lot of money in clothes that hopefully won't fit for very long, so I'm not not averse to discount stores, Walmart or Kmart if I can find something that actually fits. I'm also tired of wearing black, lol.

Reporting in: My biggest fear was going away for a week-long class. I knew the food would be great and plentiful and the exercise not so much. Well, I am happy to report the results:
Last week: 191.4
Today: 190.4
I'll take it! Now for the good/bad news. Yesterday we lost our beloved dog, Zippy. The vet thinks he had colon cancer, he was getting very sick, and we were unwilling to go the chemo route preceeded by surgery for an accurate diagnosis. We are turning our lemons into lemonade. Tuesday we are going to leave for an unplanned trip to Canada to the Manicougon Reservoir in the province of Quebed. It's a little over 1300 miles from Cincinnati and so remote that there is only one road in and out, much of it gravel. This has been a longtime dream of my 80-year old husband. This adventure will certainly distract us from the empty house without Zipppy. It will definitely be a food challenge. Stay tuned.

May your beloved Kippy rest in peace. I'm glad he didn't have to suffer chemo and surgery.
Your trip to the far reaches of Quebec province sound exciting. I imagine you will encounter moose, elk, wolves and bears along the trails.
Glad that your husband is still full of adventure. Enjoy.

How about the thrift stores for clothes that are your size now but won't be fitting you for very long? Maybe just try on lots of tops and don't concern yourself with the numbers. I often get XL so that when I wash them and they shrink and I lift my arms high my tummy isn't peeking out.
You have jr, misses and women's to choose from.
Have fun shopping since you succeed in losing inches and lbs.

@khreed I'm so sorry to hear about Zippy. That photo is beautiful - what a sweet face.
Your trip sounds very interesting. How smart to live out a dream, no matter what our age. I hope the trip is wonderful for both of you.
