I went for a walk with my mom in a natural park. Saw some dragon flies sunning themselves, ducks in a marshy pond, some gorgeous dogs. Got home to find my daughter's cat had chewed through the cord for my expensive headset that I use for transcription and gaming. The company charges $65 US plus shipping to replace just the cord. This cat has destroyed countless earbuds, headsets, fried one laptop, two sets of speakers, two sets of christmas lights, etc etc etc. Spray, tin foil wraps, plastic wraps, nothing deters him from chewing. I'm at a loss, seriously. I'm so furious. I've banned him from my room but somehow he found his way in and CHOMP.

Ok...deep breath. I'm going to keep myself busy so I don't murder him. I've got 6200 steps so far at a good heart rate. I'm burning those calories! How many calories do you think I'd burn by cat whacking?? It's a good thing he's cute.

@RachelShrinks  - Sorry about the depression but you do have this! We are here to get you through!

@_Lilac_  - Regarding calories burned while cat whacking, depends on how fast the cat is and how much you have to chase him LOL!

OH NO! So Sad tonight....my much beloved, and frankly abused at times Charge HR has finally bit the dust. I've downloaded a pedometer app to count steps and can still log food on the fitbit app while I await my new Fitbit. I've tried resetting and charging but I think there is no saving it. Its funny how its causing me anxiety that I won't get credit for my calories burned while I wait!!

take some old cords, possibly some he has already chewed on, wipe some hot pepper sauce on them with a paper towel and just lay them in his reach...  I have broken a couple of animals by doing this.  Hope it helps.

Best Answer

@Fisherman30721 , I've tried it all. Hot pepper sauce (he licks it), the bitter spray you can get for this purpose (he licks it), tin foil wraps, special coiled wraps for cords (oh he loves gnawing on those and cuts right through), retractable cords, etc. I've resorted to him being banned from my room but he sneaks in sometimes. I cover all cords with towels or blankets if he is left alone. I'm sure he's been shocked because he fried one of my laptops by biting through the cord while it was on and plugged in. It doesn't deter him. I have tape currently wrapped around my newest laptop cord where he exposed a few wires. He's just got it in for me.

Hi everyone Smiley Happy Been a while since I've joined but need to get back to this.  Got daughter's wedding coming up and a dress to fit into comfortably.  On a high protein diet to achieve that goal. Which seems to be working so far 2 and half lbs down in a week. But I've also increased my steps and added additional exercises as well. I look at lables more now. Staying away from carbs and sodas. I have felt my energy level start to increase in the last couple of days.  My Stats:

USW - 175.2

SW - 172.8

CW - 172.8

PW - 175.2

LW - last weight/weigh-in

GW - 150

MGW - 160

UGW- 145

Good Luck to everyone.  And if any of you have downloaded the new fitbit app, they are having issues with the challenges and adventures. You can read about them in the help forums.

Have a great weekend.

Here we go with the injuries starting. I went out for a bit this afternoon. When I got home I stood on my right leg and tried to pry off my left shoe with my right big toe. My right knee buckled backwards and now I'm injured. Sigh. Stupid, stupid. I can't straighten my leg or it buckles again. I walk with it bent but the muscle feels so hot and inflamed now above the knee, the joint hurts, can't twist at all. What crappy timing. I'm going to rest it tomorrow, take anti-inflammatories and maybe do icing. This is what always seems to happen. I move more and I hurt myself because I'm too big to be putting this much stress on my body. And if I don't move, I can't lose. No winning.

Hi all,

Sorry about the knee injuries. Ice and elevate and rest are the things that have helped me. Lilac I remember that you swam so that seems like a good path .Also, maybe stationary biking since at PT for my knees I was asked to do stationary biking.  Please don't give up your journey toward health.  Bobbi mentioned the hot, humid weather limiting her walks outside.  Hope that it cools down since I know that you love nature.

So I'm charging my fitbit as I write this. In spite of cleaning my studio I have only 1360 steps so far and my next task is stationary.  I have to figure out why 2 outlets in the kitchen are dead right now so off to youtube since wiggling and flipping the breakers didn't restore the electricity.  Later I'll grab my camera and go for a walk to find birds.

In terms of weight loss I was disappointed to regain part of the weeks loss on the weekend. I made it to 151.4 for a few days but rebounded to 152.6 this morning.  Well, still down .6 since July 4, so I think that I won't be grouchy with myself. So far I have only had a greek yogurt and blackbean burger with guacamole on a slice of whole grain toast.

We can get through all the obstacles somehow. We are warriors for health!

Hello everyone that is moving toward better health.  I need to brag that I busted into the 140s barely. Now at 149.4.  Stay strong and be aware of all the heat wave warnings back east and southernly. Yeow, triple digits F temps. I wilt in the 90s.  Do you all have air conditioned places to get your steps in? Drink lots of water!!!

Ok, so I think my fitbit is dead. I fiddled and got the charging going but now the screen is completely blank though the backlight is evident. (Earlier I saw pixelated images on it). I've tried a reset but still nothing. I'm almost wondering if it will still track but the screen is faulty. I own two more fitbits but they are 'small' charge 2s and don't fit me. Other family members use them. I'm going to try to wear it and see if it will load the info onto my dashboard.

We are in that huge area of heat warnings. It was 40C with humidity today and I was out in it walking around downtown. I was quite dizzy and got muscle cramps after returning home, it was also hard to breathe. I'm good now but I bet I burned a lot of calories. I won't know though, due to my stupid fitbit.

I'm still here! I haven't weighed in, but I will tomorrow.

Everyone stay cool and drink a ton of water. Or get in water.

My fitbit is definitely dead. Sigh. Ok, that means I just have to track my food and be careful about making sure to move and exercise every day. If I move, I burn calories, so that's where I'll start. I know from the past how to do this whole thing.

It's a little bit cooler today so my daughter and I are going to go walk the dogs in the natural park. I'm going to have to track by time, I guess.

So, I think I'm out of the depression funk, thanks to a week in New Jersey with family. My sister-in-law does Beach Body fitness, and I worked out with her every day I was there. I also worked really hard on eating the right stuff, but not at all on charting and limiting... So I gained. Grrr!

Getting back to it now we're home. My kids' babysitter is back from camp this week, so I'll enlist her to watch them while I go to spin class and generally get myself back on track. I didn't gain much, so I'm hoping to at least get back to where I was, this week and next. This is so much harder when I have three kids running around my feet while I work.

USW - 210 (I don't know—way back when. 2015, maybe.)

CW (7/24) - 196

Let's press on, my people!! To healthier and stronger and generally more aesthetically pleasing us-es!

Morning! Okay, I pity partied yesterday about my weight, but I did Transform :20 last night (I had thought I'd skip and be whiny, but then I changed my mind) and again this morning.

It's wonderful. It's like a 40 minute spin class jammed into 20 minutes and without the cycle. I like it a lot! Doesn't burn insane amounts of calories (I got 100 for this morning's), but it's good for me and gets me moving on days like lately, where my asthma objects to the 90 degree–60 humidity (What? That's HIGH for Colorado!) days and I wheeze through a brisk walk outside.

Anyway, trying to get the scale to start trending downward again. I AM taking a spin class this afternoon—yay for babysitters finishing camp!—so I'll get extra calories burned there.

Hey everybody!! Get out and move today! Or stay in and move today.

But move today!! ❤️
