Its not about doing 10K steps.

Your food is the most important part. Are you weighing and measuring? Are you logging your food?

When first starting measuring your portions is so important. It easy to  eyeball and think 2 cups is a portion when not actually measuring it. And you should only be having 1 cup. I know I was shocked when I started.

I have two thoughts:  try logging your food so you have a clearer sense of what you are eating - calories, carbs, etc.  It's also important to pay attention to fiber and protein, and empty calories.  I found (when I lost weight the first time) that just cutting back on sugar and breads didn't work, I had to cut way way back or down to zero.  Also, it was easier for me when I went organic as much as possible.  I think my body reacts to chemicals.  Drink lots of water - roughly 8 glasses.  Although exercise doesn't lead directly to weight loss in terms of calories, it is critical.  You could try intervals and strength training. The more actie you are, the better. The more muscle, the faster the metabolism, the thinner you will look and the better you will feel.  This is about health, not just the scale.  And, this time around, my scale isn't moving!  Sometimes our bodies just need times to adjust.  I do find it helpful to measure, not just weigh.  And to focus on being healthier for life.  NSV - non-scale victories - are critical.  And keep coming here to get tips and support.

The activity that seems impossible today, will soon be your warm-up

If you don't log your food it could be possible that you have an even calorie range, with that I mean you are taking in as many calories as you expend.  To lose, at least for a little while, invest in a food scale and measure, measure, measure.  You will find what you think is "a" serving, is often times 2, or even 3 servings.

If you are already logging your food and you have a calorie deficit.  It could be that you are not eating enough calories... around 1,200 should be the minimum you eat.  Below that and your body goes goes into preservation mode thinking that there is not enough food.  Your body will then try to hoard as much as it can to hold off until times get better.

If you are doing both of these things.  Try to look for other signs of weight loss.   When I first started to lose weight the scale was the last thing to show it.  My pants got slightly looser, I felt like I had more energy, my mood was better.  Muscle is more dense and therefore weighs more than fat.  As you are loosing fat, you will be gaining muscle.  That could be the explanation as well.

Otherwise.. It could be helpful to have a check-up with your doctor to see if there are any unseen factors.

Hope this helps, and happy stepping.

eating healthy doesn't mean low calorie and 10K steps doesn't mean you are burning through enough calories. Echoing the others, until you add and subtract, you are kind of in the dark about what is actually happening. You need to figure out how many calories you can eat per day and manage your nutrition within that range. You will see results. Good luck to you and keep us posted on your progress!
