Well, I am a little late to the party. Just got my Fitibt yesterday. But I thought I would jump in and try to be on the ball through Halloween.

Welcome, @LC328! What kind of Fitbit did you go with? I have the little green zip, and I love it dearly :). What's your weight loss strategy?

I lost 1lb over the last week - down from 171 to 170. Not a huge achievement, but a move in the right direction!

I get about 120 g of protein a day. I have a protein shake for breakfast, a KIND STRONG bar for morning snack, lean/ high protein source for lunch with a green juice, raw almonds or beef jerky for afternoon snack, and lean/ high protein source for dinner. The only carbs I have come from fresh fruits. I eat lots of veggies with dinner. I also try to stay away from any extra oils or high fat condiments.

@CatLondon Congrats on the pound! That is terrific. Actually, I've been hovering over 171 for so long I'd love to see 170. Good for you.

@SarahM You are right, I really am appreciative when it is the 3-3 rule. Although last year, 3-10 would have looked good!
It is so exciting that you are more energized and working out more. That is really what this is about, not a number on a scale, but the quality of life. Amazing how food choices can make such a difference. I used to have awful cravings and started eating well, and they disappeared. Keep up the good work.

Barbara,
I listen to Eckhart Tolle also, and have studied several forms of meditation. I agree wholeheartedly about being the still presence.
However, anyone who tries to keep you back - I think they better look out and get out of your way. You seem like a force to be reckoned with. People do put us into categories that aren't great, whether it's because of age, race, gender, weight, etc. And we owe it to everyone to have an attitude of "no thanks, I'm moving forward". Not always easy to do. So, stay calm, have that stillness inside you, and either get the coach to change or change coaches.
Just my 1 cent worth.

I bought the Charge HR. So far I love it. Many years back I was a personal trainer, and I was in great shape. But that that was over 12 years ago - I just hit 50 and it gets tougher and tougher it seems. Back then I ate a balanced diet, no fads, and worked out 5-6 days a week. So my plan is to get away from my desk more, hop on that expensive treadmill that's been collecting dust, and maybe getting back to the gym in time. My food choices are pretty good, but my moving not so much. So I am hoping this motivates me.

I think what you need to do is, when you reply next to this thread uncheck the blue box next to your post.
It says "email me when someone replies".... this way you wont get updates everytime someone writes here....

Wow that's a lot of protein. How did you find that "diet" for yourself? Was it a recommendation from a trainer or nutritionist or doctor or ??? I am wondering how kidneys and liver work with so much protein , just out of curosity. Have you read up on that? Would love to hear what you found out!
Lots of veggies sounds awesome and carbs mostly from fresh fruit! Yummy!!!
I also try to stay away from high fat oils, condiments etc, though I do have peanut/cashew/almond butter once in a while as protein source and "good fat" source.
And bread has really not a big role in my daily life anymore. Yes... an english whole wheat muffin here and there. But that's more a vehicle to eat my breakfast egg! LOL And there is nothing else on it. no cheese, no oil/fat. it's enough.

A pound is exactly what you want!! one and two and three and voila you are down 6-8 lbs by the end of this challenge! Baby steps are the healthiest when it comes to losing weight. So be PROUD of yourself and give yourself a pat on the back!! Well done!!!

Oh wow I am soo soo happy to read this! Don't get me wrong - I have nothing against Paleo or whatever diet people choose for themselves. I personally believe that real, clean, natural food is the best you can give your body (preferably with little to no dairy, meat, eggs etc. But that's just me after watching Forks over Knives LOL.)
Seeing the difference that this new way of eating gives you more energy and endurance is wonderful! Congratulations for all the workouts done!!!
Keep going! Sometimes our bodies just need a bit of a change!!

@kmme Hey Kim!! That's soooo wonderful! breaking plateaus, getting under that next step of 10 lbs... it's such a motivator isnt it?!?
I actually went a little window shopping today and learned two things:
- I can now actually buy clothes from the "regular" side of the store, not the "Larger sizes" section.
- Skirts are shorter cut in the "regular" sized stores, I have to get used to that! LOL
- and my biggest NSV (non scale victory) was probably to be able to go to a regular store and buy a normal bra size that FITS.... no extensions... no cutting into the back or sides... I am so stoked!!! 🙂 The only downside is that I lost 65 lbs and with that a whole cup size. Down from 42D to 38C... but hey... I take it !!! 🙂

You are going to dance them all in the ground girl!! We are all crossing fingers for a wonderful performance and of course - the medal!
And honestly - I agree! Give this coach who is further away a try! I try to remind myself over and over again to "never settle" and I think you shouldnt either. Nobody ever should "just settle" out of convenience if your heart is in it!
That also explains why I'm still single! ROFL
Eckhardt Tolle sure has some good advice! Have you read Melody Beattie? She is my favourite these days with her wise words and texts for every day... which reminds me. I'll go and read my daily Melody-pick-me-up story now. 🙂
Lots of luck for the event!!! LEt us know how it went!!

@Runner021 I have always wondered what herbalife is... do they offer meal replacement stuff or herbal teas to support weight loss? Do you still learn to eat healthy and whole foods?
Either way - obviously it has helped you to make the necessary changes in your life and I believe that WHATEVER system or program we choose, all that matters is, that we get on track with a healthy, happier and fitter lifestyle and are able to stick with it long term because it's FUN and DELICIOUS and SUSTAINABLE!!
Actually you have lost about as much as I did and we both have 35 lbs to go! I am hoping to get there by next May. Pretty much when my yoga teacher exam is done. Would be a really nice "celebration" for me to walk into a Lulu Lemon Store and finally buy a pair of yoga pants that FIT!! LOL
What is your long term goal and non scale victory you are working towards Aldo?
Cheers
Birgit

Hello all!
Massive well done to everyone recently for being determined & heading in the right direction. Really encouraging to be part of such a suppourtive & positive thread!
I hopped on the scales this morning after a week where I've really tried to stay on top of my food goals & pushed myself a bit harder in my workouts & I'm sooo chuffed because the scales were kind to me.
