Update the Victorian prose style, add a few modern touches, and this could be written by any number of frustrated fat people today (including myself 40 lbs ago...) as a blog post 🙂
How interesting that this was a topic almost 150 years ago. Looking at the weight to height ratio, this may have been the precursor to the BMI scale. Mr. Banting also seemed to understand the distinction of carbohydrates and protein in the diet. I wonder how long he lived?

He lived to the age of 81. Although there may have been some tenets of low carb there he still appeared to take in an unreasonable amount of of alcohol each day.
