Mini Challenges (also known as goal setting)

OK, maybe it's just me and I am goal challenged. I use goals to challenge myself but I also make them obtainable. So, I'm setting short term goals, meaning something I'm sure I can make by the end of a week and it's working.

I've only had my Fitbit Flex for 9 days now and there have been some challenges with the actual Fitbit Flex. I've had the replacement one for less than a week. The first one actually stopped working and Target exchanged it with no questions asked since I only had it a few days.

On Fitbit Day 1, I had reduced the default step goal to 5000 steps with the intent to increase it by 1000 steps at the end of 7 days. Day 1 was an absolute challenge. I had a hard time even walking 1/2 mile. By then end of Day 7, I was able to walk 6000 steps and up to 1 mile at a time. My overall intent was to just keep moving.

Now, that I'm on Day 9, the weather isn't cooperating. It's cold and rainy and that's our weather prediction for the rest of the week, too. I had to go to Planet Fitness tonight and use the treadmill. Dang it all, I walked 0.8 miles in 20 minutes (even that's not good because a year ago, I was walking alot further than that on the treadmill). The Fitbit didn't register more than 10 minutes of walking and only around 1000 steps. I'm determined to meet my 6000 step goal for the day. I've had to do other activities to increase my steps and in the end, I've done my 6000 steps, walked 2.5 miles total AND completed 23 minutes of increase activity.

What sort of things do you do when you are so close to meeting a goal?

We step in place from side to side - which is called marching in place from side to side - we call it cyber stepping - I have been on the internet now and stepping for two hours !  I can get to my goal - just standing at the kitchen counter on my laptop or iPad.  Hope this helps - many other ways to get steps too !
