My scale is not moving

I was losing about 3-4 pounds a week and then it just stopped and i've been stuck at the same weight for a week now.  I've been eating healthy and have a calorie deficit of between 800-1000. I have been going to the gym every day and getting my steps in.  I've even picked up Zumba 3 days a week in addition to my normal workout routine. I figured switching things up would help, but it hasn't. Any suggestions?

Its possible that you are losing fat but gaining muscle, have you measured yourself? sometimes measurements can show up that you are losing fat even though the scales dont show weight loss.

It's also very normal for your body to plateau every once in a while. How much weight total have you lost?

i've lost about 22 pounds in about 6 weeks. I have 40 more to go. I need the scale to start moving again!

I was thinking a possible plateau so I added Zumba and nothing. 🙂

Gaining muscle while in a diet is very difficult, especially when that diet has a large deficit (as suggested by the 22 lbs weight loss in 6 weeks). Preserving existing muscle would already be hard. Weight loss cannot be linear over a longer period of time: the remaining 40 lbs won't go in 12 weeks.

i'm also doing resistance and some weights to keep my muscles going. I understand that the quick and sudden weight loss would slow down eventually, I just didn't think it'd stop. I'd like to point out that i am obese so i think you lose more weight quickly when starting out???

...From everything I have seen read and experienced there is a "honeymoon period" when working out that you see results quickly.  And then yes you hit a wall.... are you counting the calories going in properly, have you been measuring your portions... ( I don't myself but I do log my intake including soda or empty calories) there are so many things that can cause a plateau,  don't give up... something will break and you will see results again.. And the measurements...those can help show loss better then the scale alone

Our bodies can be really funny. When we have lost weight consistently our bodies sometimes take a time out. I suggest that you not worry about it and continue as you have been doing. Your body will probably kick back into weight loss mode next week. It happens to most of us at one time or another.
