New to Fitbit - Goal weight 8st

Hi everyone

I got my fitbit this week and im loving it.

I've always had weight issues and low self esteem. I know most of you wont say 10st is a weight issue but seeing that number on the scales made me very depressed - which made me eat more.

At one point in my life i was so low i refused to eat anything.. but i still didnt lose weight how i thought i would and became very ill instead.

This year, me and a friend have a fun year planned and im at that point now where im ready to be slim and healthy. I've started taking more pride in my apprearance which has helped the low self esteem but i still hate the way my body is.

I joined a gym, three times a week including classes. I bought my Fitbit blaze to keep me motivated.

I was wondering if anyone had any tips for me?

I've tried detoxing and fad diets and although i felt healthier i still didnt get the results i want.

A little friendly competition isnt bad so if you want to add me as a friend please feel free. 🙂

I'd love your support and motivation.

Bring on that bikini body!

Just because 10 st may not be a big deal to some does not mean it isn't to you.  Don't let anyone talk you down over it.  As far as tips I would just say to keep going.  You will hit plateus at multiple points and it can be discouraging.  You just have to keep going no matter what and/or change up your routine if you have to, just don't stop.

Heart your precious body every moment, it can only get better.

Diets don't work, it's changing food habits (trying noticing your bodies signals when being hungry, getting appetite.. notice if feeling more (comfortably) satisfied, not needing more)..

See which foods you like to eat and fill you up, leaving satisfied for longer on lower calories possible overall..

Always eat what you like when possible, be mindful about.. when eating to eat (eating something to eat but not really wanting), though not so hungry and wanting something else instead.. your body may be satisfied what your body desired in the first place, possible not needing more..

Allowing to have what you desire reduces binge eating to and prevent cravings since allowing any food desired whenever possible when hungry.

Have Fun

What has worked for me is using My Fitness Pal and counting the calories of everything I eat. Losing weight is simple math--once you get past the psychological reasons we all struggle with! 😀. I have 50 lbs to lose. At first I ate 1400 calories per day and 150 minutes of exercise a week. I lost 20 lbs. and then hit a plateau. I dropped down to 1200 calories and 300 minutes of exercise and so far have lost another 10lbs. I am most successful when I prep my breakfasts and lunches for the week. Then I can plan interesting dinners. I take a one hour Zumba class twice a week. On those nights I'll have a treat. Last night I had pizza. My diet is mostly protein, fruits and veggies, and some complex carbs. My app counts that stuff for me and I can adjust the next day. I refuse to give up wine or sweets so I plan for them. Good luck!

what @Chickmama said exactly. it starts in the kitchen and fine tuned in activity. figure out your caloric allowance, count your calories so you don't go over, move more to help with fat loss. Good luck!

Hi Maddi,

I've had my CHR for a year... started at 13st 4 & I wasn't happy with my health, fitness levels or appearance as in my teens I was very sporty & felt so much healthier. Work & life kinda changed that & the pounds piled on slowly & surely over the years. I am now down to 9st 9 with that 9lbs still to go. I cannot overstate how much better I feel physically & mentally, it's changed my life. So I can totally see where you are coming from & 10st may not sound like much to others but you know you better than anyone!

As it's been a year since this started for me I've been looking back at what I have done differently & how I've lost the weight. I think for me it was about a lifestyle change & not a diet as such. I eat so much healthier, we cook a lot more using fresh ingredients, lots of veg & healthy protein & by doing so have vastly improved our cooking skills too (bonus!!). I snack less but when I do they are healthier snacks, fresh fruit or veg or my all time fav... popcorn! I think it's about making changes that you can incorporate into your life on a permanent basis, rather than a quick fix for a few months. I also use MyFitnessPal to track my food/calorie intake & see what I have eaten that day vs. how many calories I have burned. This has been soooo helpful & really made the last year more manageable.

Also, just as important as eating right, I have been exercising on a regular basis too, something I didn't do before last year. Normally I exercise about 3 or 4 times a week now. My main exercise has been running & I take part in my local parkrun every Saturday which is always fun. My other exercises include 1 kettlebell session a week for toning & an hour badminton with my Husband (who always wins... Smiley Frustrated lol).

I can't say that I've cut anything out majorly, just made adjustments, eat more fresh food, less processed stuff, drink more water, cut back on sugar & alcohol intake (still can't resist the occasional Fruli - strawberry beer... I kid you not it's like heaven in a bottle lol!) & adjusted portion sizes (this one turned out to be one of the best things I changed).

Sorry for rambling on, I am by no means an expert or even mildly knowledgeable in this area really, this is just what has worked for me. Eat healthier & move more.

I've sent a friend request your way Smiley Happy hope you start to see the results you're after!
