I am still struggling with losing weight (put on .8 kilo when I weighed this morning) and would like to know if anyone can tell me the following?
Fitbit had recorded that I had burnt 633 calories this morning.....and I had only done 804 steps.
Is this correct as this seems like lots of calories burnt? I do not wear my Fitbit to bed and is always at 0 when I put it on in the mornings. I understand that Fitbit Calories Burnt figure is overestimated.
I have lowered my calorie intake this week (on Fitbit) to try to encourage losing weight after having other discussions and seeking suggestions on the fitbit community that maybe this would help. However, it is about 2.30pm here and I have still got 831 calories out of 1261 to consume. So I only have dinner and maybe a piece of fruit to consume and that will not be 831 calories.
Do I need to increase my calorie intake??....I had a look at the Eat more 2 lose weight site but I dont think it was as good as Fitbit.
In addition, I have been walking 3 x 30 mins a day. I cut that down to 2 x 30 mins starting yesterday and have done one lot of 30 mins today. Still have another to go. If I do that, I will be increasing my calories to consume even further.
My steps this week showed I had 3 days of over 15,000 and the rest of week over 10,000 per day.
I have read lots of suggestions relating to other people's issues on this site, however, sometimes it just gets very confusing and I still feel that I am not getting anywhere and working very hard to get there. I have set a goal of 13ks (approx 28lbs) to lose. I have been using fitbit for about 2 months.

Hi
First things first, your fit bit counts all your calories , you burn calories while you sleep, eat watch TV as well as move around in general , just keeping your heart beating uses energy. The amount of calories that fit bit is showing at this time is to allow for these processes in your body.
So fit bit is counting you being alive, as well as any exercise or activity you do. as you do not wear it while sleeping it is giving you an calculated expected calorie burn to allow for the hours that have passed after midnight.
Secondly I have found when my wieght loss stalls I pull out my scale and weigh my food , and check that the information I have for calories is correct for food that is not in a package ( fruit ect). Most times I found I was eating more than I thought.
try not to forget things like cooking oil, sauces ect . they add up quite a bit.
I use myfittnesspal to keep track of my calories.
Eating more will have the logical effect you will gain weight ! .

thanks justplayin..good sensible suggestions. I do have a really good set of scales I use to use, so will go back to them for more accurate weighing. Thanks for the info on calorie burn as well.

Also, you do HAVE to eat to lose weight. Your body will STOP giving up fat if you do not give it enough nutrients. My trainer has drilled that into my brain continually.

What others have said regarding it calculating the calories burned to be alive. I also got my fitbit recently and was reading up on it and from what I have read is that the calories calculations are not quite accurate. Personally when trying to lose weight, I stay lower in calories than what the fitbit says that I have burned. It's great and super acurate for steps though.
So if I were you, I'd weigh food again, at least for a bit. It also depends how fast you expect to lose weight. For me, it took a week and a half to lose one lb ( with many flactuations inbetween).
