Hi I've been trying to lose weight since April. 60 lbs so far but things have headed south. I was walking everyday and had built up to 2 miles almost every day. However I was pretty much out of commission due to illness and injury for a month or so then Thanksgiving arrived and major trouble. I am trying to get to a gym I joined but I get so sore and discouraged . I then eat. some days I don't even wear my fitbit. How can I get out of this slump? I've worked to hard to start gaining what I've lost. I don't even know if I have since I won't step on my scale. I can't tell by clothes since I bought leggings since I was going down in size so fast . I would appreciate any tips or suggestions .

Okay, it's time to step on the scale, figure out the damage and start again. It's basically one day at a time, so start when you get up tomorrow morning. There are a number of weight loss challenges going, or post in the weekly weigh in thread. There are lots of people here who will help you along the way. You just need to start again. Good luck!

You have done well so far. Think about that.
You know what you need to do. But its needs to come from within yourself.
I can tell you what to do but you wont listen unless you help your self.
Figure out why you are not getting back on track and then do it! Do it for you~

60 lbs from April to October (7 months) is just amazing. Even if you stopped exercising and your eating went out of control, there is no way you can undo much of your achievement in a month or so. In fact, taking this break may have a positive effect in the longer term, even if you didn’t plan it: one step back, two steps forward. As @A_Lurker suggested, you need to get back into the game. Maybe you should have a more gentle deficit from now on, so you’re able to keep it going for longer.

@Mom3grandsix- you can tell me to mind my own business, but did you step on that scale?

Doesn't matter if you exercise or not. Just don't over eat and you should be okay. I do intermitting fast and it works really well. Fasting for 16 hours is a good practice. The thing that makes people gain fat is because they eat too often, too much, and whenever they want. Do what you know is right and stick to it. 7 month of a weight loss journey should be long enough to know what is right and what is wrong. Don't let your old habits take over you.

It's difficult and scary to step back on the scale after not following your plan for a while. But, as @A_Lurker said, the best thing to do is to step on the scale as soon as possible.
You say that you eat more than you should because you feel discouraged. That's understandable - being scared of the unknown is a powerful emotion. But, the best way to get out of the slump is being aware of what you are dealing with. The scale may show a gain, but it may not be as bad as you are imagining it.
Being very sore after the gym means that you are doing too much too soon. The fact is, you don't need exercise to lose weight. A good meal plan is all that is needed. Exercise helps things along and provides a mental boost. So, it's OK to take it slow and steady at the gym. Build up your base little by little. Some soreness is normal and expected - the body is simply repairing itself and getting stronger. But, if you are so sore that it makes you not want to go back, you need to scale back your routine. Which exercises are you doing at the gym? Let us know and maybe we can suggest some tweaks to make it more manageable.
Get back on that scale and let us know how it goes! Do not get discouraged by what you find out - knowledge is power!
