New study discussed by a Phd nutritional scientist.
It can be a useful tool to help cut calories in order to lose fat.
May even allow you to not have to count calories (but if no results don't wonder why).
But like any tool, it may not be the best for you, or there could be issues when using it to be aware of.
Like any weight loss tool - nothing magical here.
Many people have done IF without realizing it before it became a fad - and gained weight eating that way.
Best AnswerIntermittent fasting may not be better or worse than other weight loss diets. But there are other benefits according to Mayo clinic. It might help Alzheimer's , arthritis, stroke, asthma, and MS. I laughed when I read a side effect might be hunger. LOL Also headaches, insomnia, fatigue, & nausea.

@Heybales agree completely. Fasting is not for everyone What started as a religious practice has turned into a diet fad. I totally support those who do it and do it well. However, it isn't for everyone and if it isn't, that's OK too. It goes beyond feeling "hungry" for some.

So true, at that point it almost sounds like every commercial for medicine listing off potential side effects.
Another benefit that has shown up in studies is helping to improve insulin response in pre & diabetics (metabolic syndrome).
For me I don't get migraines anymore, that was a potential positive that ended up true.
