Hello everyone,
I am debaiting between purching SlimFast or Shakeolgy. SlimFast is much cheaper but I am willing to pay more if its worth it. Does anyone have any opinions about any of these? Or possibly even some other drink or shake they found that helped aid them in weight loss? Let me know please and thanks in advance.

Shakeology is ridiculously overpriced. I used it for over a year. I found no difference between that and a standard protein shake from Vitamin Shoppe like Syntha 6. Don't waste your money.
Also research the lead content in the Greenberry shake.
Good Luck.

Why not make your own? That way you can get the nutrients you want and also know where all the ingredients came from.

SlimFast is with a diet plan associated to them. But hardly any nutrients for toning or muscle building. They do have High Protein shakes without the sugar.
Also, Potassium which is in Slimfast products is highly not recommended for everyone. It can be lethal to you in very large quantities per day. High potassium (hyperkalemia) - Mayo Clinic
Shakeology is very expensive. $130. But it comes as a specially designed formula for the toning and muscle building.
However you can find way cheaper products in your local sports nutritionist store. Some are $85 and even lower.

My vote is totally for make your own. I make fruit and veggie smoothies in a Nutribullet and add protein powder I get from GNC. I like knowing what is going into them and believe the nutrients from fresh raw fruits and veggies top those in any premade shakes. I start every day with a "green smoothie" and get an instant enery boost! Good luck with your decision.

I drink Shakeology and I love it. It is expensive. At the moment, I'm an Independent Beachbody Coach so I get a nice little discount on it ($99 a month instead of $130). I like that there are many flavors so I don't get bored. Just my two cents.

I am also a HUGE fan of Shakeology. It has 70 vitamins and nutrients along with pre and pro-biotics and phytonutrients. It increases energy, gives you a full sensation, and is good for you. I take it once a day (at breakfast) and my kids even love it! It does cost about $130 for a 30 serving bag so, about $4.30 a shake - less than you'd pay for a fancy coffee at Starbucks. 🙂 I started using it and other Beachbody products (P90X3, T25, 21 Day Fix) a little over a year ago and am down 15 lbs (I am 5'6" and 129 so I don't really need to lose more weight). Now I just use it to be healthy and maintain my weight.

Shakeology used to be awesome but it taste like rat turds now! I would make your own with protein, greens, and fruits.

The chocolate was the only one I really liked. They changed the formula....it does not taste good now! It used to be awesome....it sucks now! No, I will not watch the commerical. If they went back to the first formula....I would buy it again. I have some just sitting in my pantry now....wasting away because it taste like bird poop.

How do you know what bird poop tastes like? (this is meant to be a joke, just thought I would point that out for the humor impaired out there - lol)

I just tried Shakeology for 2 days this past week (I did a PiYo class with a beachbody coach). I got 2 free samples (choc & vanillia). I was told to mix them, as the vanillia is very sweet. The texture was kind of gritty, and it had an odd taste at first, but I'm sure that after a month's worth you would get used to the taste. It wasn't that bad, really. Too expensive for my liking. I'm curious about making my own protein shake now. Is it best to get the receipe from a Health food store or just off the internet?

You can find all kinds of recipes online, there is even a discussion board on here about people's favorite smoothie recipes. (No clue how to link that topic or I would) I basically throw my leafy greens and fruits into the blender with a scoop of whey protein powder from GNC. I think making your own is good because it is customizable to your dietary needs and preferences, you can find a protein source that works for you since so many people have food sensitivities, it is fresh, and much cheaper. Good Luck!

I am not a Beachbody Coach! I was a huge skeptic of Shakeology, but I won a bag at a benefit and after a month, I was hooked! It gave me energy, can be mixed in different ways, and keeps me full!! Really full for several hours. The down size is the expense, but I made a point of stopping my purchases in other areas to afford it!
It may not be for everyone, but personally, I have seen a difference and I love it!

I actually just bought the Abouttime yesterday at Giant Eagle (grocery store) and tried it this morning. It was in a bottle ready to use. Just add water and shake.
Wasn't crazy about the taste. I also ordered a shakeology sample pack today, so I should have it next week.

Protein shakes are not the same as Shakeology or Slim Fast so you can't really compare the two.
