Weight loss tip

I have found since counting calories my spouse, who loves to cook and feed me, is my biggest obstcle.

If you are having the same issue this is what has worked:

1.  Insist on using a smaller plate.  You can still "heap" it but the portions will be smaller.

2.  I reminded my spouse when he gave me two huge baked potatoes with butter along with a HUGE salad portion that he just bought me a bunch of new clothes from Nordstrom and I already donated the "fat" clothes to good will.  Unless he wanted to spend more money to buy bigger clothes, he should stop feeding me so much.  He contemplated spending more money on clothes and his face changed to a look of horror.  He also took away most of the food.

reminds me of a term 'crabs in the pot' when describing peeps around you with good intentions but wanting to pull you back into the 'pot' -- not a good analogy for me as a vegan, but crabs when cooked in the pot live will climb on top of each other to get out only to get pulled back down by their friends....

Also, can help getting spouse on board by working in either some healthier (but just as tasty!) versions of your fav/typical meals or introducing some alternative new flavors sticking with whatever you like (mexican, american, chinese, italian, etc.) which are both nutritous but also easy to make!

Getting the people around you on board is key.  I like the analogy of your friends pulling you down.....I have a lot family and friends who are obese.

haha.  kind of like taking financial advice from someone deep in debt or relationship advice from someone terminally single or divorced 3+ times....

Good to keep in mind that we're all on our own journey, experience.  Sometimes better to smile and say, 'yeah' and bite your tongue.

Atleast online we can find support, motivation, sometimes help and sometimes be helped along the way!
