How do you guys stay away from the Bad stuff??What are some suggestions from keeping away from the unhealthy things.
@Kesh91711 There was an interesting TV program in Melbourne the other evening, Fat v's Sugar and the presenters were twin English doctors. One was on a fat food intake and the other sugar. Amazingly there was little difference in the blood tests and weight. BUT, they then started on foods that had 50% Fat and sugar combined, like cheese cake, glazed donuts and other processed foods, the problems started, insulin increase, weight, cholesterol and lost muscle mass.
This really opened my eyes when the hour ling program revealed all.
Here is a link. from within the link below.

Last year I posted about my enjoyment of having a carrot cake and a soy latte and when I got home I gave my 49 year son the a piece of the carrot cake. He is a bike rider and very fit. He took 4 days to consume the cake..... Why. When I analysed the cake and the coffee from the franchise that sold the cake the total calories was 815 for one sitting !!!!!!
I snack on nuts and find that I don't crave for the takeaways and I use this new food pyramid as a guide.

Hi,
What works for me is making healthy foods/snacks ahead of time, then when you hit a bump in the road you will reach for the healthy stuff. Remove the temptations from cupboards/fridge ( I used to drink 5 cans of Pepsi daily...now I dont store it anymore). Keeping active with things you enjoy doing will help distract you from wanting the sweet stuff.
Hope this is some help!

Like Colinm39 I have seen documentaries about sugar and that helped me to stay away from the sweet stuff. I would usually buy something every time in the supermarket just out of habbit. Knowing how sugar will give a rise in the insulin levels of your body and a fall in the insulin levels after an hour or two, a fall which can make you tired and lethargic, it was the right choice.
The thing is; you eat something sweet and after a while the body wants more because when the insulin levels start falling and the craving for more sweet stuff starts.
First thing you think is that it is going to be boring, not having sweets, chocolate etc in your life. We associate sweets with many great things, like rewarding ourselves or celebrating something so naturally we would feel deprived not getting sweets. But much of it is just a habbit and you can snack on carrots or apples just the same (just takes a bit of prep work).
When you consume food rich in fiber and lean meat full of protein you blood sugar levels will stay more stable. If you are eating sweets between meals, that will mess up the balance. So really, try to minimize intake of sweets and be careful of ready made food from the supermarket - there is usally a lot of added sugar in those.

I have a list of thing I will no longer buy, becuase I know I do not have the will power to eat them in moderation, IE oreos, triscuits and wheat thins. I also work in an office and keep heathly stuff in my desk, like fruit and granola bars to snack on, especially when people are ordering out or have potlucks

Fiber One Snacks like the 90 Calorie Brownies or the Weight Watcher's Cakes. I try to stay away from anything over 100 calories. I am the only eating healthy in my house, and so it is very hard to watch someone eating something sweet. When they do, and I crave some chocaletly, I grab one of my low calorie snacks. I can't help you with chips or crackers. I completely avoid those all together. I also stay away from Diet Sodas. I do use Crystal Light Raspberry Tea or Peach Mango Tea.
