Weight Loss Community:
Is there a way to use an iOS Bar Code Scanner to upload your common food nutrition facts instead of searching via food manufactures that may not be uploaded or items that may not be included in the database?
Many Thanks,
Lanny J

Many users prefer to use MyFitnessPal (MFP) to log foods, then link that account to Fitbit. MFP has a pretty extensive database of foods and restraunt menu items, plus barcode scanner support. It also has a good search function, recipe builder, favorites, etc. Plus complete nutrional breakdown, not just calories.
It is the best food log entry system I have seen on a mobile device. More info on the integration with MFP can be found here .

Unfortunately, fitbit does not have this feature at this time. However, there are several third party apps that do, such as myfitnesspal and loseit, both of which can sync to fitbit.

The Fitbit App update today has a bar code scanning feature for Android. I tried it a f ew times and item not found. I don't think the database is very big.

The Fitbit App doesn't have every food available on barcode scanning unfortunately. I have to submit photos for every single meal consumed when it says "barcode not found".

I second the suggestion to use MyFitnessPal. I used Fitbit for the first couple of months, but switched to MFP for food logging about a week or so ago, and it is SO much better - no manual entries required.
Started with a Flex. Now have ChargeHR.
