I am not sure how IBS would effect weight loss. I think it primarily effects what you can eat because things like acid, spice, dairy can cause a flare up. More often than not, weight loss is impacted by not creating a caloric deficit. If you are eating to or over what you burn, fat loss will not happen. If you are toning - you will look leaner eventually, but the number on the scale won't be greatly different. I guess it all depends on what your goals are.

I have started but not finished the book The Obesity Code.  He says that calories in calories out is not an accurate model of how the body vs food works.  He gives the example of a 100 calories of sugar vs 100 calories of olive oil.  Same amount of calories but truly not the same in quality or how your body will react.

I have IBS and have not seen any weight loss since I got the Fitbit in June.  However, I have noticed other improvements, in my digestion i.e. in bowel movement.  So I think that I have been sick and my body is healing.  Weight might be slow to show up but progress is important.

I need to work harder on my diet....so think I will start the Obesity Code again.
