I have been using my fitness pal and that stuff it pretty easy. But this is really confusing to me. Numbers and I just don't get along. I bought a fitbit yesterday and it seems really confusing. What are the things I should really try to understand and get to know. Like I did my goal and such, and it says something abut calorie deficit -500. What does that mean? My calories a I can eat today are 1192, which seems like starve mode to me. I am used to counting calories. any help would be helpful lol. I just dont understand a lot of this fitbit and hope to understand it more

For some it depends on if they performed well in the activity, but the most important part is what is consumed healthy to award yourself that calorie deficit. You can eat up to -1000 deficit, but be sure to consume healthy foods aimed at losing weight and to avoid starvation which can lead to a whole slew of health problems.
For me, my goal is 10,000 steps but I need to perform that 10,000 steps in performance not just everyday work. 10,000 steps is easy, but such as my body fat is way above normal it's from not performing well. So 20,000 steps is my goal and hit the gym early bird and late night to burn as efficient as possible to hit my goal of losing extra fat.
Consuming healthy foods is mainly focusing on what's right to eat like avoiding DDs, Starbucks, McDonald's, etc and consuming what is in the house preset to healthy eating. Veggies, Fruits, natural protein like eggs, etc. Souch Beach Dieting persay.

I would start by reading these community threads- amazing stuff. You should also read the fitbit info to understand what each stat is for, how its calc'd and what it means. Then you want to figure out your fitness goals. Depending on what they are, you will know which stats are more meaningful to you and which are nice to have. Also depends on which fitbit you have. Believe me, you will not starve with the calorie allocation fitbit gives you. you might be less full than you normally are, but if your goal is to lose weight- that is supposed to happen. Most important, fitbit is your guard rail to fitness- not the map or the holy grail. That is up to you to figure out and create. Good luck in your journey and I hope to see you around the discussion boards!
