paleo breakfast options?

im doing paleo for the second month and im sick and tied of eggs for breakfast.i have left overs for breakfast once in a while but im going back to my oatmeal. will it hurt my diet switching my breakfast back to oats. any opinions on alternatives? thanks.

-- how about sausage?  bacon?  brussel sprouts cooked with crumbled bacon? there's also plenty of paleo "pancake" recipes out there.  if you're ok with dairy, nothing wrong with some meat and cheese for breakfast.

-- maybe.  but only you can be the judge of that.  personally, when i used to eat oats, i'd be hungry 2 hours later.

The best breakfast is  a low carb; High fat breakfast. I usually do black coffee with a table spoon of heavy cream. This is about 53 calories. You shouldn't eat anything for at least two hours after you wake up. After two hours I sometimes will eat a serving of cheddar cheese with musturd which is about 90 calories. Then a few hours later I'll eat two eggs or so to get some protein. You can also substitute the eggs for any meat.

My Paleo conundrum was the same - although I was going from not having any breakfast at all to forcing myself to do so.  My answer is to have chia seed, it absorbs upto 15 times it's own weight of fluid and I have been using 40-45g (three breakfast spoons) mixed with c200ml almond milk and a teaspoon of madagascan vanilla but have to play with the ratio between almond milk brands.  I also take a container of chia mixed with fruit juice for my mid morning on days when I'm not having nuts.

 

Love Paleo - so far I've lost around 20lbs just on diet alone, when I'm back in training I reckon I'll drop another few lbs.  Also sense of wellbeing remains through the roof.

This "cereal" recipe is not only Paleo but is AIP (Autoimmune Paleo).

 

I made it this week and its good.  Add nuts if your not on AIP.  Add raisins, and fresh fruit if desired. The recipe says to use coconut milk for AIP.  If your on regular Paleo, you can use Almond Milk.

 

Cinnamon Coconut Crisp Cereal Ingredients

    • 1 pounds large coconut flakes, unsweetened
    • 1/4 cup water
    • 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon
    • 1/2 tablespoon honey
    • For serving: AIP-friendly coconut milk and fresh fruit
    Instructions:
      1. Pre-heat oven to 300°F.
      2. In a large mixing bowl, combine water, cinnamon and honey.
      3. Add in your coconut flakes and toss them until thoroughly coated in the cinnamon mixture.
      4. Spread coconut flakes in a single layer across three, parchment-lined, cookie sheets, making sure there are no clumps.
      5. Bake for 10 minutes.
      6. After 10 minutes take them out and stir them around. Bake for another 10 minutes, or until they are just starting to turn golden.
      7. Remove from the oven and allow them to cool.
      8. Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
      9. Serve with coconut milk and fresh fruit.

Same for me with oats, if I ate a sensible amount I would be hungry after a couple of hours so I tended to eat too many.
