New Menstrual Health Tracker Layout

Is there a way to revert back to the older version of the menstrual tracker. I had an update today and it is awful. It doesn't show you the full month, tell you what day of you cycle it is and no option to add when ovulation actually is. It just assumes everyone ovulated mid cycle. I see no option to add symptoms. Please allow us to revert back to the old version.

Fitbits just seems to be getting worse, First the clock face, then Spotify, the dashboard and now this

I agree with this! The menstrual health tracker used to be useful and easy to use. Now it's clunky and inconvenient. Please restore the previous version!

Bring back the scrollable calendar in Menstrual tracker!!!

I also came online to see if anyone knew the answer to this question from Margaret - Terrible change to the app fitbit rendering it almost useless to me right now and having to look for alternatives now.  Who thought of these app changes???  Demote them...

I would also like to register my complaint. This is bull. I'm a woman at 40 years old, and Google has just assumed now that I have a 28 day cycle and a 7 day period. I was just learning how my body works, after spending many years on the pill, and working out that if I ovulate on my right side I'm in for a 26/28 day cycle and my left side is different. I don't know what day I'm on now, unless I count. I'm relying on PMS. I may as well use that crappy paper diary that came with my first pack of Tampax minis. At least I could see more that one month on a page!

The newest format of menstruation tracking is not helpful. Having to scroll through the months makes it harder to see what the period of time is between the cycles. And the tags are all listed under each other, also gives less sense of time, and the tags are no longer linked to a (menstruation) day. All in all a quite unhelpful overview.

Looks like I'm going to have to move my cycle tracking to another app.

My period just started 2 days ago and I can't go back and change it from the predicted start date. Annoyed

Thanks for the app recommendation. I'm in the same boat.

Sigh. Here's my post again. hopeful the redaction helps:

I gave [the new Fitbit period design] a shot. Nope, it sucked. So I've been subscribed to this thread [redacted] This absolutely sucks. I've cancelled my Fitbit paid subscription and moved on to a UK app "Balance - menopause" to track my periods. I'll need to find an option for sleep, but for now all my apps and devices are google and if this is how they treat us it makes me worry what will be next. Boo Google. Poor job listening to your customers."

Anyway, one other note - A CSR told me they had heard a lot of complaints and were going to "fix" it at the next update, but that was at least 3 weeks ago, so it doesn't sound likely anymore.

Best Answer

I was already mad about the update, but I'm even madder now because I got my period at day 45. The old tracker made it really easy and insightful to scroll through my irregular periods and see how my ovulation keeps going back and forth between early and late.

Now, in the new tracker, I have no idea what's going on. And to make thing more confusing, the app has added a prediction that my next cycle starts at June 8th, which is based on absolutely nothing and I don't need fictitious data when my real data is already irregular and impossible to read.

I'm an early adaptor when it comes to tech and gadgets, and if I still can't find my way around this interface after a month of begrudgingly using it, that means it REALLY sucks.

Despite raging hormones, I'm still hoping for a fix. I really appreciate now how good the old tracker was

Sorry if I'm not replying right, I've never been here, I found this thread from a Google search about how horrible this update is and I see I'm not alone. My watch died a few weeks ago and I'm trying to decide if I'm going to replace it, but I don't think I will. Without the period tracker, I can find another watch that's cheaper and will last more than a year or 2 before it goes dead. The old tracker was really awesome, but really just the fact I can't even see what cycle day I'm on, click on specific days, or see when I ovulated is a  deal breaker. And now I'm reading that when I switch to a Google account all my years of data disappears? Really you can't even back up data? It was fun while it lasted Fitbit. Oh well.

Very valid points. I've been researching other trackers too. I hate that I
have to charge this thing sometimes twice a day so battery life is key. I
found a separate period tracker so that's fine for now. I've literally been
a Fitbit user since 2014 so this is a real bummer.

Just a PSA for those who don't know: if your Fitbit account is linked with your Google account, you can download a spreadsheet of your cycles/symptoms using Google's Takeout service:

  • Go to https://takeout.google.com/
  • Check the box next to "Fitbit" and finish the export
  • Once you have downloaded and extracted the archive, look for a folder called "Menstrual Health"
  • Inside are some CSV files which can be opened in pretty much any spreadsheet app (Google Sheets, Excel, LibreOffice)

That way, at least you'll have your historical data and can put it into a different app or your own spreadsheet format.

I'm really baffled why they took a feature and ruined it. It was the only feature I still used. It actually feels like contempt towards women, to sabotage something like that. And now they aren't even listening to us.

The multi-month view was so much better, idk why they had to go and change it. This is so much worse this it was before. And that's one less thing that Fitbit is useful for now. There are much better apps that can still do this right without screwing it up.

Absolutely nuts what they have done to the menstrual tracker. You can't see your cycle day, how is this helpful??? So much functionality taken away like its not important and I'm so disappointed that its been stripped back to something completely useless. I've been a fitbit user for 12 years..maybe its time to give up and go to a competitor as I should be able to do everything in one place. Yet now I can't track my cycles or calorie/macro count properly because of the stripping back they've done. Urgh 😪

I had random issues with the old version, but this is absolute trash and essentially unusable.

Not really surprised that an update made it awful, though.

Not to mention if I don't "Confirm" the period on the predicted day then after day seven it starts again. I once noticed that when I didn't confirm it it showed me having a 20 day period! So, I just removed it and won't use it until they change it back. These were one of many things that did not need updating or changing. I used to love how I could put my moods in and look back and see how many days I felt certain ways.

Shall we add a feature request? I can see other people have done it about other features as well as can see a few 'bring back' type requests.... Clearly it's more than just this aspect of the app they have changed without user testing🙈. Might be the best way and then if it gets enough votes I think they have to respond?

I don't mind starting one 🤷🏼‍:female_sign:

Why bother? They don't ever consider it even when a vote gets enough votes to be at the top. Remember back when people got top votes to have them return our games and challenges? They seemed to add a section somewhere for things they will never consider. I am so tired of our votes being ignored.

Might be a bit futile but I have posted in the product feedback forum. If enough of us point out how unhelpful the new calendar is they might make some changes, stranger things have happened. It does make me wonder if any women were in their dev team or testing groups for that feature!

I hope so, even offered my assistance in testing features. (I design UI as
a job).

But I already stopped using the app for tracking my cycle months ago.
Became completely unusable.

Though I would be surprised if at one point the menstrual tracking will
become a paid feature... because of some weird conservative reasons where
women aren't allowed insights in their body.

Try adding a pregnancy. Can't be done either. That's what I hated the most
about the tracker from day one.

Been using it myself for over 5 years. But stopped using it months ago
because it became unusable.

My Calendar is a great app, which I used when I tried to get pregnant. It
can store so much data; your mood, medication, medication timers, sex,
ovulation, temperature, weight, pregnancies. And much more I don't even use.

Best of all, unless you want it to look all cute and pink, it's free!
