Did you mean:

Period came early, can't edit it

I learned that I cannot change “future” periods, only current or past, this really is a flaw in your software development.

My period was supposed to start tomorrow, but it started a day early... because periods do that... but I can’t change the start date from tomorrow to today because it isn’t “current”, according to the app, until tomorrow - my uterus would disagree.

Please change the rules around when periods can start or end.  Have your developers check out the “period tracker” app (it’s pink with a flower on it), it’s actually really great and I only deleted it because I thought using one app (Fitbit) would make more sense than two.  That app allows you to choose the start AND end date even if it doesn’t match the prediction, which it also does.

I understand female health is new to Fitbit (the period tracker, I mean), so I understand there are probably some bugs that need to be sorted out - this is a big one, imo.

Thanks for getting back @Njones0427! Totally understand your point my friend. While in the period tracker, go to Settings in the top right corner. It should bring up the option to remove "predictions". Turn it off, set your period then turn predictions back on. This way it seems to just put in your average period days and not what the predicted end date would've been.

Welcome on board @Njones0427, it's nice to see you here! Thanks for reporting this and for the steps that you tried to enter your period. If your Female Health tile is not responding. Please force quite the App and and clear the app cache in your phone's settings, then try to sync your tracker. Then try again to add or edit your period. What model of phone are you using?

To add or edit a period:

  1. Tap the female health tile.
  2. Tap the start date of a period on the calendar.
  3. Tap the pencil icon to add or edit a period (you can also tap and hold a date on the calendar). If period predictions are turned on, the entire period appears on the calendar based on your average period length.
  4. On the calendar, tap the first or last day of a period and then slide your finger across the dates to adjust the period length.
  5. Tap Save.

I have a similar scenario, so I tried to log my period a day before from the prediction's date. I have and Android phone:

Log a day before.jpg

love a day before2.jpg

Keep in mind that if you attempt to log a period in the future or a period with less than a one-day gap between periods, the pencil icon is unavailable. If you don’t see the pencil icon, make sure the period you’re attempting to log or edit meets all of the requirements.

I appreciate the troubleshooting, but the problem was the fact that the prediction date was set to today (future) and the pencil icon wouldn’t work - it did work for previous periods, and it is working today, as it is now “current”, so I am able to edit and move the date back a day.

Its a very useful tool to have, but women should be able to edit future periods - what if it starts 5 days early?  It’s rare for me personally, but it happens.  There isn’t a point to editing a period 6 months in advance, but certainly a week or even a month in advance we should have editing capabilities.

How do you 'set a period' after turning off predictions?? I had the same issue as originally reported. My period came early, but I can't edit the future period to not this until the predicted day arrived. I've turned off predictions but can't ever anything!  This is not how it has worked in the past, and is not how it should work. Back to a separate app that actually understands what is like to have a period.

Welcome to the Forums @Kate111! I'd recommend doing the following:

  • Make sure that your Fitbit app is up-to-date
  • Log out of your Fitbit app
  • Force quit the app
  • Turn off the Bluetooth
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes
  • Turn on the Bluetooth
  • Log back into your Fitbit app

Once you've done that, try going to Settings in the top right corner. It should bring up the option to remove "predictions". Turn it off, set your period then turn predictions back on.

I'll be around, keep me in the loop!

Welcome on board @Demihenri! Thanks for trying the suggestion I've provided above.

My sister had a similar issue, her period was a day early this month. For her the current day and all future dates all had a grey pencil and could not be edited. Well, she tapped on yesterday's date which had a black pencil so she was able to edit the period like that.

So, tap on a day that has already passed, where there is a black pencil, then edit your period.

Give that a go and let me know the outcome!

I actually tried that yesterday and it did work! Still makes no sense that we’re unable to edit the current date. I understand why we can’t update tomorrow or further into the future. They should really fix that. Not intuitive and makes me not want to use the app
