Also just put mine on today. I haven't found an actual video about if you are supposed to wear on the dominant arm or not, how to use the stopwatch feature, etc. Would love any info you have or anyone else on here.
I've gotta move more (thus my name), and I just couldn't get motivated before. Going to the beach in Feb., so I now have no choice. Plus, I want to be more fit, more healthy, etc.
Can't wait to hear from you others, especially more about how to use it effectively.
Thanks!

Hi Tina,
welcome to the Fitbit community and congrats to receiving your Fitbit Charge! May it motivate you as it motivated me and others here. I started using Fitbit One and upgrated to a Flex. I am saving money to buy myself a Surge next year.
To answer your question about calorie burning, there are many factors to consider when you are burning calories at rest. Yes it would be quite reasonable if you are more active, but you are also burning when you are at rest. I would like to share my tips from my fitness coach, she said that when you get enough sleep, say 8-9hrs, it would pave way to loosing weight. That is if you are also eating right and keeping active and monitoring yourself. She also added that having monthlies alone can burn 500 calories with or without activity. Many people say that oxygen is the component that burns calories but I believe that other factors should also be considered. This includes but not limited to gender, age, metabolism rate that varies from person to person, the food that we take and also lifestyle.
So if you are doing desk work, if you are going up to have a break to the washroom or use the copy machine or visit somebody at other floors, you are still burning calories. Even little stuff like crossing your legs, stretching arms, playing with a pen or talking over the phone.
1000-1,300 calories burned is okay. And 1,500 calories burned is very much normal. Usually if you add some stairs and a bit of walking it could go as high as 1,700-2000. For the first week try and feel your Charge. I usually use my Flex on my non dominant hand which is my left. My right hand tends to do more work and is more prone to bumps, shakes and carrying loads which might affect the results. We want our Fitbit to be as accurate as possible.
Good luck and Happy New Year!

Good suggestions AutumnMary about getting up. I am a teacher and I do get up often. However, it is good to be reminded to get up more.

hi Frogee,
Yes indeed, I agree. That is why we have our Fitbit, because of this tool we are pushed and motivated to move more. I am glad, more and more people are receiving and getting one for themselves. 🙂 Welcome everybody!!

Hi! Santa brought me a Flex this year 🙂 I`m guessing he heard my moaning about my desire of getting up from my couch.. My love for new gadgets made the gift absolutely perfect 🙂
I`m 32, from Norway, working full time, and got two kids (9 and 10). Our nordic winter temperatures makes my Fitbit start a fresh one. Been walking in -12 celcius (aprox. 10 degrees fahrenheit). Got some new fitbit-friends, and starting a challenge tomorrow 🙂

Got a Fitbit Flex for Christmas, Today was the first really full day wearing it.
I like that it tracks all the time, unlike my phone, which i keep putting down.
And it registers while I'm on the treadmill. I entered my excercise and it reconciled the two.
Probably gonna upgrate to the Charge HR, if it has better calorie tracking.
Found my answers here quickly.
