Welcome to the Fitbit family!

Whether you've just got your Fitbit or have been with us for years, share a little about yourself with the wider Fitbit fam. You might find someone with the same interests or even the same health goals as you. You can say hi any way you like but if you're stuck, kick it off with:

  1. Where in the world are you?
  2. What is your current health/fitness goal?
  3. How do you like to stay fit?
  4. What motivates you?
  5. Favorite guilty pleasure

Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Hello to everyone out there. I am from Derry in Northern Ireland. I have reached the goals I setup for myself and I am using Fitbit to help maintain those goals. I got a lot of help from a lot of people who are in the Fitbit community and for that I,m truly grateful.

Hi @Neurofan.  You are famous.  I just started watching Derry Girls on Netflix.  It's a great show. No Homicide Life on the Street or The Wire mind you; but it always interesting when your city gets caught up in media and world event  :-).  Welcome to the forums.

FatherofTen, sorry I didn't reply earlier but congrats on the children. In this day and age I'm sure you need energy to meet the demands of a big family. I am speaking from observed experience my mother and her 7 sisters (my aunts) had 56 children. I have 50 maternal first cousins. In school days gran's house was always full. Please stay in touch so that I can get advice about fitness and health believe me I really value support.

Hi @Baltoscott , great to receive your message. Famous for all the wrong reasons. Life was pretty hairraising during "The Troubles" but thankfully life is a lot more tolerant now. The "Derry Girls" is based upon the local grammar school - Thornhill Grammar College - for girls. My wife is a past pupil of that college and still has a lot of friends from those days.  Despite what she claims, I think, when they get together they still behave like the girls in the series.

Thanks for the welcome and I would love to hear from you again.

Hi, Everyone!  I live in Pensacola, Fl and my current health goal is to walk 4,000 steps per day. So far, I am not doing too well.  I have a very bad lower back and very bad fibromyalgia which sends me to bed on many days.  I am not at all active like I use to be and I want to get back to being as active as a 70 year old can be.  I would love to hear from you and receive motivation along the way to help me get over my pain and push myself as much as possible.  I love life.  I love God and I love my small family.  I have 3 grandchildren and one who is still at home who is 7 yrs old.  She is the joy of my life.  Looking forward to getting to know you!

@1ShortOne Hi I was delighted to receive you note. I will start by telling you I am married and have 2 children Kevin and Katrina. They are both married and they both have 3 boys so I have 6 grandsons and I love them all. I also love my faith - Catholicism - that may be a show stopper. I  hope not. Above all things I love to see compassion and kindness regardless of faith. Before I go any further will you acknowledge that I am Ok to communicate with you. I would really love to help you get fit again. I will never mention religion again because religion is a very personal thing.

Hi, religion doesn't matter to me.  I am Methodist and I am very close to my God.  So when anyone speaks religion to me, I am okay with it as we are all brothers and sisters in Christ.
Can you help me for real?  I am 4'8" tall and am overweight.  But this fibromyalgia pain is killing me.  This is what is holding me back from accomplishing my goals.  Very frustrating!!
Thank you for wanting to connect.  Not sure how to do all this yet on the computer but I am learning.

Hi, ShortOne.  How tall are you?  I am 4'8" tall!! ha!  As for your religion of Catholic, I am Methodist and as long as we both believe in God and that Jesus has saved our souls, that is all that is necessary.  I love God and any mention of faith is okay with me.

So you believe you can help me get fit again?  Really?  If you do, you will be a God-send!!  With my fibromyalgia and dealing with all this pain, it is so discouraging for me.  I use to be so active and now if I can get one thing accomplished each day, I feel like I have done something which I guess I have for something is better than nothing.

I am 70 years old - a new 70 year old.  Just had a birthday.  I would love to make my 70s the healthiest I have ever been in spite of age!  Thanks for wanting to help me!

Doing only what I can do is not good enough to me.  I want to do better.  I want my energy back and my active life back.  I want to make my family and doctors proud as well as my self.  So just settling for what it is does not work for me.  I don't want to settle.

@1ShortOne Hi Olivia, I was delighted to receive your responses.  First thing is that I am a male. Being of different gender does not stop me sending  notes about health and fitness. I send notes to lots of people (men and women). I was also involved in Medicine for a few years after university but a brain tumour got me out of medicine. However thinking about your notes you would appear to be attending doctors then the question is; are you being prescribed medication?  To start giving you some advice, not as a doctor,  but a friend then I would be wary because of problems with what type of medicine you are getting. Does your doctors tell you anything about getting fit again? Anyway it's now bedtime for me and please send me a note to say if you want some advice.
