Fitbit and Anesthesia

Had a minor surgical procedure today and was put out with Propofol for about 40 minutes - they let me keep wearing it (Charge 6). I’ve noticed 30 minutes seems to be the minimum for FitBit to track a nap and it’s usually very sensitive. Was interesting that it didn’t register at all. Nothing super interesting about this post but it seems to indicate there’s something fundamentally different between the way it tracks true sleep and unconsciousness. That said it has no problems understanding passed out drunk.

Hello @tayor93

Thank you for sharing your experience wearing your Charge 6 during your surgical procedure.

According to the Fitbit page on sleep  (<-- click link), Fitbits will start tracking sleep/naps after about an hour of no movement. It's a bit surprising that you've had 30 minute naps tracked.
