Hello, I am doing an investigation for my Master's dissertation and wondering if you can help me at all.
I am interested in discovering if there is a boundary between self (mental health) and technology.
Would really appreciate your help!
Does your Fitbit cause any stress or anxiety to do better? Or does this motivate you in a positive way? Does your Fitbit help with any mental health implications? Do you feel your wearable technology is part of you? Would you exercise just as much if you did not wear the Fitbit device?
Many Thanks
Jess

Does your Fitbit cause any stress or anxiety to do better? No, it does the opposite, if I see my heart rate increasing during a meeting, I take a deep breath and focus on a positive outcome, which reduced my stress and likely the stress of other around me. 🙂
Or does this motivate you in a positive way?
Yes, reminders to move are a life saver.
Does your Fitbit help with any mental health implications?
Not sure what you are really asking here.
Do you feel your wearable technology is part of you?
Yes, I've always loved technology, so wearable technology makes a lot of sense to me.
Would you exercise just as much if you did not wear the Fitbit device?
Hard to say, because I wouldn't have the means to track it. I do think my Fitbit and friend group help keep me accountable and thus exercising consistently.

I wouldn't call it stress or anxiety. But I do feel wearing it pushes me to try to do better.
Does your Fitbit help with any mental health implications?
I don't think so.
Do you feel your wearable technology is part of you?
Yes.
Would you exercise just as much if you did not wear the Fitbit device?
Probably not. I have little benchmarks I like to hit--like getting to 5,000 steps before 7:30 weekday mornings and my 10,000 goal by 6:00 p.m. I feel really proud when I see how many steps I've gotten, how many minutes of exercise, etc.

Hi Jess
I have diagnosed panic disorder and what I find with Fitbits heart tracker is if my RHR is in the low range (60-65), my anxiety builds, not sure why but it happens!
Motivation yes, it drives me to do more steps, I use it to swim to set lap goals, more of a count thing versus lap time
Over all it’s a great piece of technology, just depends on my state of anxiety.

Fitbit causes no stress it’s a positive experience.Fitbit does help with my over all mental health. With or without Fitbit exercise is an important part of my daily routine.Fitbit is a tool not apart me.Personally I think technology has broken barriers for people and opened doors for people that have a hard time getting out.

Very interesting topic, using Fitbit has been great for me as well and it has motivated me to be and to feel better.
I didn't really have a daily routine before and Fitbit helps to to have some extra goals concerning my health. Definitely a positive change for me. 😀

Not really - I just like wearing a watch.. fitbit or otherwise.
Would you exercise just as much if you did not wear the Fitbit device?
Probably would, just wouldn't put as much effort in.

No, I don't feel any anxiety, it helps me feel better actually. If you suffer from anxiety, maybe you should try some CBD for it. I am sure that it is really helpful and working, and you will like how it works for you too, good luck with it, hope I was helpful here 🙂
