I’d like to tell my story about the Fitbit Relax app in case it may help anyone else. I have lung issues and have started a series of procedures to clear out old, chronic clots. I’ve always been a fan of the Relax - Deep Breathing app. I’ve uses it in the past to relax before bedtime and during stressful times. It even helps with chronic pain from arthritis. Needless to say, this feature has served me well. During my first lung procedure last week - when I had to stay still and mostly conscious in order to be able to respond to the surgeon - I became very anxious. Recognizing trouble, I automatically started the deep, controlled breathing exercises. Granted, my Fitbit was not allowed in the OR but since I’ve done this so many times, I was able to do it without the Fitbit prompts. It really helped. The anesthesiologist later asked how I managed to keep calming myself down because it was not due to her increasing the meds. I explained what I was doing. She said she had never heard of anyone doing this before, but that it had allowed the surgeon to work longer than he would have had I not managed to stay calm.
I strongly recommend the Relax app to anyone suffering from chronic pain or who has to go thru high stress situations to become familiar with this app. It can be a great help. And, it’s drug free!
Please share your stories so we may all benefit.

The only reason I went with the Luxe and not the newer Charge 5 was because of the relax app. I'm a preschool teacher and being able to do a quick session during a bathroom break or anytime really that I'm not immediately needed has done wonders for my mental health.

I love your story @SunsetRunner . I am not a breather so the concept of being still to just breathe is very foreign to me, but I think I may give it a go in meetings where I feel myself starting to stress out, which usually leads to me saying something I later regret 🙂

I have used the app on and off, and like @SunsetRunner I can do without the app now. I use deep breathing and slowing my breathing rate when I want to go to sleep but my mind says NO! It really does help.

Thanks for sharing! My husband is a professional rugby player and he said that they practice breathing exercises without fail at the beginning and end of the training.
