So I’ve just signed up to premium and noticed one day last week my heart rate while sleeping was 100% above resting, reaching 90-120bpm for hours at a time. This was the sleep after drinking and know drink increases heart rate but this seems quite extreme to be almost at cardio level and not drop at all below resting heart rate. Anyone had anything similar?

Hi @abbiearchibald,
I think the amount of alcohol has a big effect on how much the heart rate is increased during sleep. There was a study in Germany a couple of years ago, where they monitored some people during Oktoberfest. The conclusion was that the more alcohol you drink, the higher the heart rate gets, both in awake time and sleep. There could be a lot of other factors that can contribute. If it happened just for that night, I wouldn't worry to much about it. Of course if you are concerned, contacting your doctor might warranted.

Yeah it does seem to be just this night in particular, I don’t drink much very often but checked back to Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve. Both of them had a slightly raised heart rate during sleep after but just to the sort of level you’d expect. Was just a bit confused why this one was 100% above normal, will keep an eye on it if I’m drinking again.

hey there. I am happy it was an isolated incident. It could also be the tracker for whatever reason choosing that night to give you faulty readings. My HR is always higher as well after drinking but a few points on average, not what you experienced.

Same here. I only imbibe on Saturdays and last week my heart rate was 90 as I slept. I usually have a resting heart rate of 61.

I know as no one else about a person's vital signs, because I myself have had difficulties with them.

I’m not an alcoholic lol.. I drink about twice a month and get drunk a handful of times a year as stated in my original post! The only difference I notice from drinking more than a couple drinks in one go is an elevated resting heart rate and that’s what I was interested in.
Im glad you found the help you needed but this was a very strange reply to this particular post.
