You know you're a Fitbit addict when...

  • You pace the house to get to a particular figure before going to bed
  • You sit down when recharging as you don't want to 'waste' any steps
  • You park further away from the shops to gain extra steps

...you stop your lifetime habit of going up and down steps two at a time because it means less steps/flights of stairs....

...you obsess about a day you missed 6 months later, because guestimating and manually recording the steps is not. the. same.

You know you're a fitbit addict when....

you walk 3 blocks to the nearest crosswalk to cross the street, even though everyone else, including the local police, just walk straight across!

When I walk on curved paths or sidewalks, I alway take the outside arc which is longer.

I always try to add "just a little bit more" when I am walking around our neighborhood.  If I'm shooting for 3.5 miles, I will go an extra .1 to .15 miles more or I will walk another time that day and try to get my total to round up to 7 miles (by doing at least another 3.5 and not just round up from below 7 miles).

I took the stairwell up the Vulcan statue vs. the elevator, this last Saturday.  I also went down those same stairs.

I have been an addict since 2009.  I absolutely will sit or watch TV while charging my fitbit so I do not miss steps.  Have now traveled 7,900 miles.  I love it.

Yesterday after grocery shopping, I told my husband "Go ahead and take the grocerys to the car. I want to take another lap around the store." And I'm disappointed in my ankles for having tendonitis, knowing I have to curb my activity. Don't they know I have goals  Woman Wink

I am right here, where I am, what a great place to begin.

Sorry to hear about your tendinitis. Can you do your steps more slowly?
Would that help? In any case, do the best you can and best of luck with
steppin' out and about.

I'm no stranger to this sort of thing. I figure I'll reduce the inflamation with the use of ice, ibuprofen, some rest, and epsoms salts in my jetted tub. I'm back to knowing that I'm an addict. I want to buy epsom salts by the case. I want to "infect" my son and buy him a Fitbit so we can do it together. And... I am truely disappointed that my body is resisting. I didn't think of easing the pace, Thanks GoldaT!!!

little do you know that Fitbit has an amazing company customer support
reputation.
My fitbit stopped working and Fitbit replaced my tracker free of charge..
my co worker lost her One and I suggested she report the loss..she told me
yesterday that Fitbit replaced hers with no addition charge.
this company is awesome and understanding..

You know you're a FitBit addict when...it's 14 degrees and rather than freeze off your what have you, you do laps around the supermarket. I'm sure some people thought I was a secret shopper or store security or something...but it was warm and there was space to walk winwin

You must be in the US --- measuring in Fahrenheit. Up here in Canada, 14*
is quite nice ---- measuring in Celsius. Right now, we're at -15C (with
wind chill that makes it feel like -30C) -----------
COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD!!!!! I understand walking the supermarket to get
those steps ............... I must be a real addict ------- when I walk the
local mall, I go into the stores and walk through them without stopping to
take a close look at anything interesting just to get the extra steppin'
"exercise" and numbers. As Martha Stewart would say, "that's a good
thing". Great way to stay out of the cold for a while; only problem ----
nowhere to leave coat, purse, etc and when you're finished, you still have
to go back out into that awful coldness; thank G-d for a heated car.

Oh my, you are talking about me.  I step in place while doing dishes, folding cloths and watching the weather report.  and yes, i recharge while working on my computer.

Yesterday I had a horseback rinding  lesson and forgot to take off my fitbit.  About 1/2 hour into the lesson and 15 minutes into a trot the device started vibrating.  I know I had not reached the 10,000 step mark, but perhaps the horse did. Lesson learned, remove the fitbit before riding.

@AJ6 It was probably going into sleep mode - too much quick vibration can do that.

So I was on my treadmill and using my fitbit app on my iPod. I was curious how many steps it had tracked so I tapped the sync button. The numbers continued to climb while I watched. (gleefully) I then installed the fitbit dashboard on my computer and hooked it up to my tv. My intent is to watch the numbers fly in really big font lol! I haven't tried it yet, my Fitbit needs to charge but does that make me an addict?

The fun thing about music is that you can do intervals when the song speeds up and down. I thought it might be interesting to see how many minutes I really push myself, or think I do 🙂

@Kitkat14: That's most of us ............. that's why we're "addicts". We
also get quite creative looking for "steppin'" ideas. G.T.
