After all this time still want Fitbit One

It’s amazing how after all this time these forums are still asking to bring back Fitbit One. I can’t imagine all the revenue they lost. And I can’t imagine I’ll ever buy another Fitbit when my One dies. What a poor decision. I wonder who made it? Someone with very poor insight to how a regular person uses this kind of technology.

Agreed, lost my One 2 weeks ago. Could have bought one online for $339!!! Decided on a well reviewed $29 knock off watch instead- if I lose it I'll be less heart broken!

I'm sorry but its not coming back. I'm sad about it too.

The One was my favourite and I loved making the flower grow.

However Fitbit did release the inspire with a belt clip.

@nanday I wouldn't purchase a "new used stock" One for $339. That's ridiculous. If you scour around eBay and Mercari, I've seen good-used and refurbished models ranging between $20 and $40. I've lost two One's actually, and the 3rd I'd purchased ran out of battery, which allowed me to upgrade to a newer battery, which gets nearly 3 weeks out of a charge and hopefully will last me another 3+ years 😄 Cheers!

@Justonlyjane I've got suspicions on why Fitbit discontinued the One, but they're just that, suspicions. They've not released any formal statement as to why this particularly loved unit is no longer offered. I'm just glad that existing Ones still function within the Fitbit software. This allows us to source the trackers from 3rd parties (eBay, Mercari, Bonanza, etc.) and still enjoy them, though without warranty. If you've got some spare cash, perhaps pick up a used unit online to be prepared for when your One does finally die, or if into DIY, you can find replacement batteries for ~$10 on eBay and Alibaba that are super easy to install (provided you have a heat gun and a soldering iron). I've got multiple Fitbit trackers, however, the One's still my personal fav 😄

Does Fitbit really owe you an explanation?

Car models are routinely discontinued,  same goes for many small appliances.

There is only one model Fitbit that was discontinued with an explanation,  this was the Force and it was discontinued,  even with it avoiding by the USA standards,  the nickel  content was too high for some people.

No excuse was given for the discontinuation of the Ulta,  One,  Force,  Blaze,  Charge,  Charge HR, Charge 2, Flex,  Flex 2, and Aria

@Rich_Laue Was your question intended for me or in general? No, Rich, I don't believe they owe us any explanation. It'd be nice to learn reasons, but like all companies, what we learn might not be what's really going on behind the scenes. I think people loved the One for its simplicity. I'm personally happy that Fitbit still supports this unit within their system, considering it's not been manufactured for years. I didn't know those reasons for the Force, the only tracker I recall being discontinued with an explanation was the Ultra, which had cracking issues. Others went through a progression; Surge being replaced with Ionic, the Force being replaced with the Charge and then the Charge being replaced with the Charge 2, Blaze being replaced with the Versa, etc. In MOST cases, Fitbit provides more features in new products with greater benefits such as battery life, waterproofness, additional customizations and other functionality. In the case of the One, there wasn't ever a replacement offering the same features (YES, there's the Inspire, but it's different and doesn't track stairs). Are stairs really the hallmark of health? Perhaps not. Maybe we just get addicted to tracking things. Cheers!

When it comes to calculation of calories,  Fitbit has never used stairs,  ans in some ways I feel stair count is only to aggregate the user

In general I ignore the count since on windy days I can get plenty odd stair counts without changing altitude.

I too want my One!!! I have no interest in wearing something on my wrist. Only something small and simple.

I still have my ONE but was very surprised to find out they discontinued it. Very dissappointed I have tried other Fitbits and find the ONE works the best I do not want to wear one on my wrist because it gives false counts.

I just got me a fitbit one on ebay. So they are still out there just cost more now.

Im sure that there OS still used Ones for sale,  and thru will tray to get add much as they can,  please remember they are not new and come with no warranty.

BTW Fitbit sells the Inspire which may be used with a clip.

I get steps while knitting with my HR unless I put it in a pocket or attach it to my bra straip.

Fitbit Inspire is what I bought last week, after my Fitbit One stopped syncing with Android. It's not obvious, because it is always portrayed on a watch band, but by inserting an Inspire in a clip it is truly a Fitbit One replacement, It costs less than buying an old Fitbit One on eBay that doesn't sync, which is what I had done hoping I'd get lucky.  With the clip, the Fitbit Inspire costs less than $100. Only the Inspire, not the Inspire HR, fits in a clip.

Arguably the Inspire is an upgrade over the One. It is waterproof and has many more functions. Although the font is too small and hard to read, I'm happy the darn thing exists. I'm hoping Fitbit doesn't kill off the Inspire because of poor sales, due to Fitbit One fans not realizing this is its replacement.

Agree 100%! I loved how low-profile the FItBit One is, and it tracked stairs!

I have my own jewelry and don't care to ware a big clunky electronic watch.

@sarasnyc it's a wonderful tracker unit, I totally agree! Unfortunately, with Fitbit no longer manufacturing it, you're limited to finding a working used one online or repairing your own if you're comfortable DIY'ing. Otherwise, the inspire (w/o HR) and clip seems to keep many people happy. It adds waterproofness but loses the ability to track stairs. Cheers!

Hi, @scchou5 if you use the @ reply feature, I'll see your post quicker (as I might not see it otherwise). Yes, the battery can be DIY replaced!. I've detailed the steps in several posts; click my name and you'll see previous messages. It's probably easiest to click the photos of the replacement to open associated messages. Basically, it was a warming of the case to loosen the glue, I'd pried it open with a small swiss army knife, then replaced the existing battery wires with the new ones. I used a soldering iron but didn't need to use solder, there was enough on the existing connections. It was about a 10-minute total project, perhaps easier if someone knows what they're doing. This was my first soldering repair job ever 🙂 Check out the previous posts and let me know if you have any questions, I'll do my best to help. Cheers!

@LLK612 maybe knit a new sleeve for your inspire? you might find a whole new business opportunity for fitbit users who need knitted tracker sleeves! 🙂
