Battery life dropped right off

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Fitbit One has regularly lasted 14 days between charges, but over the last couple of weeks I've only been getting 2-3 days out of it before it dies. I'm guessing this is due to it's age - it's 3 years old now and I've used it every day.

I know I can't change the battery, I've done a restart and made sure I'm on the latest  firmware, so not sure there's anything else I can do, but before I replace it, I thought I'd check with the community to see if anyone has any ideas?

Thanks, Hank

Hi

Thanks for the response.

There's no problem charging the battery, it charges to full in the usual sort of time, it's how quickly it discharges that is the problem.

I logged a ticket with Support too, I'll see what they come back with 🙂

Hank, did you get a response regarding how long the Fitbit One should last before it needs to be replaced? Mine used to last close to 3 weeks on a charge, but in the last month or two I've had to charge it just to be able to turn it back on, even though the app shows plenty of charge is left.

Exact same circumstances, Hank. Except yesterday, Fitbt One died completely--no image, nothing happens when button is held, being in charger does nothing. Been through all the Fitbit online help, but nothing works. Wish I could return to Fitbit Ultra; never a day's problem. But Windows 10 does not support. Looking forward to your results in trying to restore. Please post it. Thanks.

@StormyKrista welcome to the forums! I'm relieved to know that our Support Team will be replacing your One tracker so you can get back on track as soon as possible! I'm sure this replacement will work excellent for you. When charging your tracker, please make sure that you are plugging your charging cable into a USB port on your computer or other low-energy device. If necessary, you can use a UL-certified USB wall charger. Don't use a USB hub or battery pack to charge, and only use the charging cable that came with your tracker.

Greetings @a1bonitaCat Tongue Just out of curiosity, have you tried restarting your One? that might do the trick! If you haven't already then please do so by doing the following:

  1. Plug your charging cable into your computer.
  2. Plug your Fitbit One tracker into the charging cable, making sure that the gold contacts on your tracker align with the gold contacts in the inside of the charger.
  3. Hold down your tracker's button for 10-12 seconds.
  4. Remove your tracker from the charging cable and press its button until the screen turns on.

Also, cleaning your contacts helps your tracker to better charge. Please make sure that you clean your charging contacts by doing the following:

  1. Use a toothpick or a toothbrush with rubbing alcohol.
  2. Make sure not to scrape the contacts with a wire brush or anything metal, since this can damage the plating and cause corrosion.
  3. If you use a toothbrush, dry with a cloth or tissue before charging.

Clean the pins on your charging cable, just to be on the safe side:

  1. Soak a cotton swab with alcohol and press the swab to the pins carefully.
  2. Make sure that no debris from the swab is left behind.

After that make sure your tracker charges for at least an hour, Keep an eye to your tracker's behavior and if it keep doing the same, please contact our Support Team for a second opinion. They definitely have the proper tools to take a deeper look into your tracker's behavior. Mention them all the troubleshooting steps you've followed to fix this so they can move forward to the next step. Keep me posted!

@BubbeBird thanks for joining the conversation! The good old Ultra, right? Cat Wink But to be really honest I've never had any trouble with my One and I love it so much! Cat Very HappyHeart If you haven't already, please try the following:

1. Press and hold the button on your One for five seconds. If it does not turn on after doing this, place your One into the charging cable.
2. Ensure that your charging cable is plugged into a working USB port.
3. Make sure that the gold contact points on your One align with the gold contacts on your charging cable, and let the device charge for at least an hour.
4. After charging your One, press and hold the button on its display button for 15 seconds, leaving the tracker plugged into the charging cable.
5. Take the tracker out of the charging cable and hold the display button for 5 seconds.

I really hope this helps, keep me posted! Cat Wink

This happened to my fitbit a few months ago.

2 things to check.

1) do you have alrarms set? i had a daily and weekly alarms set. those can drain a battery quickly if left to buzz ...

2) where to you wear your Fitbit?  on the belt clip or in a pocket? I kept mine in my pocket (all the time) and sometimes it can rest on the button a bit too long and send it into "sleep monitoring" mode, that along with the button press lighting the screen up all the time, can also darin the battery quicker than ususal.

Those 2 issues were the main cause of my battery lasting less than a week!!

I'm not having any issues with charging.  It charges fully.  I don't have any alarms set, but I do wear it clipped to either my pocket or waist facing inward.  It isn't usually already lit up when I look at it, but I'll take look at whether that could be contributing to my battery life issue.
